Sophie Lane MuaWorking for:Sophie Lane is a makeup artist from Plymouth City College, I got to know her through Ellie Webber another Makeup artist from City College.

Sophie needed more photos for her portfolio so Ellie introduced her to me and asked me if I could do it for her. So we decided to do studio based colourful beauty portraits.

Lighting set-up

Evaluation For this brief I was asked to take beauty shots for a makeup artist so she could use it for her portfolio. Unlike the fashion shoot, in this shoot I was well prepared and organized. I did not rush anything and I had the necessary time to get some great shots. I was slightly worried at the beginning as I was working with two models and I did not know one of them and the same with the makeup artist we only talked through facebook so I was worried that on the shoot day it could have been hard to get on and work together. Surprisingly everything worked out well, everyone was very friendly and we worked well together. I booked the studio for a long time so I had time to set up the lighting without rushing whilst Sophie took her time in doing the makeup. I also did not find hard setting up the lights this time as the previous studio shoot helped me understand the mistakes I was doing.

Overall, I am happy with the images although I still have to edit them as she needs them photos before the 5th June. However, when she looked through the photos she was happy. Most of the time I posed the models as I wanted but she was also styling and posing the models. The only problem we had initially was finding models, because Sophie, the makeup artist wanted to have four different models and was hoping I would have them already. Until she told me few days before the shoot that she thought I would have provided the models. So I had to quickly find someone that would be up for it and fortunately I did find them. Next time I will make sure I ask immediately who the models are. Compared to the fashion assignment I had much creative freedom.
