MEMORANDUM

TO: JULIE MALSBURYFROM: DYMOND MYRICKDATE: 3 DECEMBER 2015RE: VISUAL ARGUMENT

The minimum wage should be raised in the United States. The target audience are republicans. Citizens without a stable career are forced to work jobs that only pay minimum wage. Minimum wage is not enough to support a person in the United States of America. They are the people who would benefit from a higher minimum wage.

The image is of an American dollar bill and its being stretched by a machine. The poster states in bold black text “HOW FAR CAN YOUR MINMUM WAGE STRETCH?” In the background off the photo there are hexagons. The background colors are blue grey behind the dollar bill and silver grey behind the text. It appeals to the audience because the money pops out at people since that’s a motivation for people to do most things.

I chose a simple text font and used bold, capitalized letters to establish a point. The capital letters also allow the words to be eye-catching. The light color contrast perfectly with the green money and silver machinery.

The audience can see the image on social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. I chose those sites because social media is a trend that has become increasingly integrated in our society. Alost everyone these days is on a social media site.

The beginning process of the project is where my weakness lies. I found my weaknesses in reaching out to the audience, time management, and creativity. My strengths lied at the end of the project. I found it strengthening to create the memo, take peer review criticism to heart, and to make sure my visual follow all of the guidelines.

The challenges I found in completing the project were brainstorming an idea, finding a way to illustrate the idea, and correctly adding the correct text to showcase my stance on the argument. I am effectively reaching my audience by using the a simple and easy to understand visual.

Sincerely,

Dymond Myrick
