Conceptual test shoot 1 summary To create this test shoot I went outside and took a series of 35 location portraits. I did this to try a different technique and to try and challenge myself within my work. From this I have learnt that I would like to create studio photos as I do not want the distraction of the background in my final images. I believe that it was successful as it helped me to find out that I would like to use depth of field in my work. Conceptual test shoot 1 evaluation I have chosen to undertake this shoot because I wanted to try and experiment with the idea of doing a location shoot, as I haven’t tried it before, I wanted to challenge myself and try and do something that I wouldn’t normally do. It fits in with my theme because they are a set of portraits. The intention behind my work is to try different techniques to what I would normally use, which would be a location shoot and depth field. I tried to use depth of field to add an element into my work, this has drawn more attention to my model. This is communicating to the viewer that I am testing techniques and trying new things. Conceptual test shoot 1 summary

To create this test shoot I went outside and took a series of 35 location portraits. I did this to try a different technique and to try and challenge myself within my work. From this I have learnt that I would like to create studio photos as I do not want the distraction of the background in my final images. I believe that it was successful as it helped me to find out that I would like to use depth of field in my work.

Conceptual test shoot 1 evaluation

I have chosen to undertake this shoot because I wanted to try and experiment with the idea of doing a location shoot, as I haven’t tried it before, I wanted to challenge myself and try and do something that I wouldn’t normally do. I used these in my work by testing what I would like to do; these have helped me to figure out that I would like to do a studio shoot as it suits my work more than a location. The work has been produced by using a natural lighting. I used my Canon 350D camera, I used a standard lens and an aperture of 5.6 as on the day it was bright, I used an ISO of 400 as the sun is bright and I needed the camera to be this sensitive to the light otherwise the image will be overexposed. I used depth of field to try and make the focus on my model and for the background to not distract from her. To create this I used a large aperture so that the focal length and therefore a large depth of field. The materials, techniques and processes have assisted in the concept as it helped me to figure out what I would like my final set of images to look like, a set of portraits about aging. I feel like this shoot was successful as I figured out that I didn’t want to do a location shoot, it was also successful as I challenged myself and created a set of images that I wouldn’t normally do. I have learnt that if the aperture is large then there is a depth of field. To further develop my project I will look towards doing studio shoots with depth of field in them as the depth of field was successful.

The best images from the shoot are:
