For any more details, contact Manuela Barelli ([email protected]),

phone: +41 (0)22 306 21 85

Dear all,

August has been encouragingly active for Voltimum; almost 500,000 pages have been viewed by target users, which is extremely high as we had almost no solicitations done through e-mails during the month due to the normally very slow activity from our professionals.

During this time, Voltimum has been busy “ cleaning “ the sites as planned after the implementation of our new Look and Feel, implementing a new KPIs system at http://kpi.voltimum.biz, qualifying our users base more precisely and, last but not least, getting ready for September.

Our ambitions are quite high for the next remaining months of 2004, in order to continue our development towards 2005.

Traffic numbers:

Cumulative number of accounts: 117,350 (55% of our revised targets figures)

Cumulative number of pages viewed (logged in): 5,627,885

Number of pages viewed (total): 8,153,159

In parallel, in accordance with the ElecPromotion agreement we started common actions around the Elec 2004 fairs. Signature in July.

The symbolic barrier of 450,000 pages/month should be reached in September 2004 for Voltimum France.

New registrations are from one to two hundred per month since the beginning of the second semester. It comes from our good referencement and will be boosted as soon as we will put online our mini-sites referring to themes, which are present on Voltimum France.

The subscriber approach (60 € for 6 month) has just been re-launched after the summer holidays, the rights for a registered user are restricted, they can’t see any more the public prices, download technical documents, or even do a BOM or a quotation.

We are now focused on new thema files to welcome new partners in the next few months, such as Heating floor, Fire Control and Security, Softwares…

Our work is also to make some marketing actions with CPI Media and Elec Promotion, in order to benefit of their notoriety and moreover of their readers and visitors.

For the month of September we’ve planned 5 road shows in cooperation with the leading wholesaler in Tuscany, in order to promote Voltimum; moreover a seminar will be supported by the same distributor.

Telemarketing

In July we completed a new Telemarketing action on 1,600 users who frequently visited the portal.

Our aim was to sell subscriptions and to investigate how they’re used to look for information.

We interviewed 890 users, and the feedback was very positive: 130 are interested in subscription.

From the beginning of the year we interviewed 1,696 users.

UK

The summer months have been busy in the UK

Voltimum UK has already achieved its targets for registrations for 2004. Major emphasis now shifts to Revenue, Recurrent Use and Page Views in that order.

Registrations

Registrations for both Edmundson and Voltimum combined were very strong throughout the summer period: 877 in June, 767 in July and 827 in August. Most of these came from co-marketing with Edmundsons supplemented by limited telephone actions in August.

By August we had our 20,000th registered user - but we are confident of achieving close to 25,000 registrations by year end so have raised our own local targets accordingly.

New Registrations in August 2004:

827

Cumulative registration:

18,830 (annual target 20,000)

Cumulative registrations (incl. manufacturers):20,696

Breakdown of Cumulative Registrations:

Small Contractors:29%

Large Contractors:19%

Specifiers:11%

Distributors:11%

Panel Builders:01%

Others20%

Manufacturers09%

This breakdown continues to reflect our marketing emphasis on the small and medium contractor in the UK.

Page Views & Recurrent Use

June, July and August were "good" months for page views and recurrent use. We achieved our highest number of pages by far in June and July. Even though August was a holiday month, we showed good performance (on a par with May).

Page Views June:122,996

Page Views July:

131,223

Page Views August:

77,576

Two topics can be given credit for this success: a "gifts and giveaways" competition in June with announcement of winners in July and announcement of new legislation: Part of Part P of the building regulations.

By end August we had cumulative total of 623,000 logged in target page views against an annual objective of 1,000,000.

Recurrent use, which averages between 8 & 13% of cumulative registered users, remains disappointing and we will be spending much time on analysis of our user base and undertaking actions to get one-time users to return to the site.

Recurrent Use June:1,290

Recurrent Use July:2,083

Recurrent Use August:1,127

Voltimum Newsletter ‘Hit Parade’

We spent many hours in the analysis of our newsletters over the past year and created a ‘Hit Parade’ showing hits per article per month.

This has enabled us to identify which news articles are successful and which are not. In our recent Marketing meeting we used this information to help our manufacturers improve the quality of their news messages to the marketplace and get more out of Voltimum.

We have also spent many hours designing a very good Newsletter template to maximize hits for our manufacturing partners.

New Partners

We are happy that NICEIC and IEE have both committed to providing regular content to the portal and in participating in our expert area.

Manufacturers

We have had many meetings with manufacturers in the UK over the past months including Panduit, Cablofil, Siemens, Thorn, Seaward, Megamann, Cooper Lighting & Security, Marshall Tufflex and Vent Axia.

We have also prepared a ‘hit list’ of Promotional Partners (companies who provide services such as training, software, insurance consumables to the same industry segments) and started actions towards them with a view to having a number of them signed up by Christmas.

Wholesalers

AC Electrical (response from S. Hodges – 7th July 2004)

Yes I am still here! Sorry about the delay in responding but will complete the task shortly. We are undergoing a complete re-branding of the company and so I think our inclusion onto the Voltimum site should wait until this has been completed. Indeed it will make excellent timing as we launch our new corporate logo etc.

Thanks for your patience and looking forward to working with you just as soon as possible.

IBA – Howard Jones of Jones Electrical hoping for signature in Sept to add approx 50 IBA members to the directory.

MEF (Large independent Scotland) added to directory in July.

VoltiLink discussions underway with Rexel Senate in September 2004. They are hoping to launch their e-commerce platform in early 2005 with a VoltiLink.

Catalogue

Catalogue stands at 21,891 at end August. Growth over the summer months was about 600 items thanks to ABB (93 in June, Philips 236 in July and Square D 277 in August). We anticipate further deliveries from Canalis, Schneider and Merlin Gerin over the next few months.

Catalogue currently 4,000 items down on forecast. Draka catalogue to go on line by 16th September.

Germany

Portal optimisation

Major activity during the holiday’s season has been to further optimise the portal to be ready for a successful last quarter of 2004

News section completed and fine tuned

Now ALL partners – wholesalers, media partners, federations – have the possibility to publish news in their distinct areas

The Section “Mein Betrieb” has been completed reshaped and is now ready for integration of non-installation materials suppliers and services providers.

The “Partner” section has been restructured and is now complete with displaying more the 100 wholesaler logos.

BoM / RfP mechanism and wholesaler search with last fine-tuning

VoltiNEWS

The team in Germany has managed to keep VoltiNews “production” on the usual high level of sending out a newsletter once per week. This has been the reason for the comparatively moderate drop in traffic in July and August.

VoltiSPOT

Even during the holidays season the team managed to build up and open 4 new VoltiSpot sections

Sweden

Traffic

Most people in Sweden have their holidays in July and the beginning of August. This does of course affect the traffic, which almost disappears during that time. However, the end of August was pretty good and September looks really promising.

Marketing

Leaf letter

In the spring we sent a leaf letter with an example of the newsletter and a fax back registration form to our target audiences. In August we gave our partners a number of leaf letters to pass on to their sales force, which would give these to their customers. We now receive a lot of answering faxes from this action.

Snail back advert

We have an advert promoting the newsletter with a registration coupon in the electricians’ union magazine. We receive some coupons back but most people who have seen the advert register online. In the ad we also give a special web address which goes direct to a registration form.

Expert article in magazine

In the electricians’ union magazine we also have a full-page article where the expert panel for tele and data writes about cables and fire. The article is a good way to promote the expert panels in Voltimum and we have received very good feedback.

Newsletters

We sent out two newsletters in August and so far we have sent out two in September, but we will send a third in the end of the month. The reading rate of the newsletters remains very high, 60 percent opens the newsletter email.

Seminar

We are now preparing for the seminars that we will arrange in November. We will have two in Stockholm and two in Gothenburg. At the seminars we will launch a new expert panel on safety and standards. The experts in this panel come from STF, which is one of the leading education companies in our industry.

Revenue generation

Banners

We have sold our first banners in the newsletter. A company called Installations data, which sells software for installers, has bought banner space in two newsletters in each month of the last quarter of this year. We hope that this will make it easier to sell banners to other companies.

Educational tips

We have now started our new section in the newsletter with educational tips. One of the leading education companies in Sweden pays to promote their courses in this section. Now, when the section is up and running, we will approach the other leading education companies and try to sell the same service to them.

Meetings

We have had a country committee meeting and a working group meeting. We also hosted a meeting for the expert panel for building automation.

Wholesalers

Alda Grupo

We will start with Comercial Electrica Llobregat in Barcelona where we will have one stand for one week starting Tuesday, September 28th.

It is a test. If it works, we will go on in different outlets.

Ramos Sierra

We visited Ramos Sierra in Madrid. We agree in promoting Voltimum in some outlets. It will depend on the results of Barcelona.

As well, they gave us all their e-mails to register in Voltimum. Since September they will receive our Newsletters.

Seminars REBT 04’

We are going to be very active in seminars this quarter.

We will have 4 Topics:

· REBT

· REBT on industries

· REBT ob public buildings

· REBT on garages

We plan to give these seminars in 5 cities before the end of the year.

Human Resources

We started the search of sales people, commissioners, in Madrid and Barcelona.

They will promote Voltimum in Catalonia and Madrid province. We plan to have them on board in October.
