Modal Verbs
Relative pronouns(who – which – whose – where )
1 – Who: It replaces subject pronouns ( I – He – She – We – You – They ) Which refer to people.Examples:1 – The girl is from India. She lives next door. The girl who lives next door is from India.2 – The policeman caught the thief. He stole the money. The policeman caught the thief who stole the money.
2 – Which: It replaces the subject pronouns ( It – They ) which refer to things and animals.Examples:1 – The horse is black. It won the race. The horse which won the race is black.2 – I like the song. Mary sang it. I like the song which Mary sang.
3 – Whose: It replaces the possessive adjectives ( my – his – her – its – our - your – their ).Examples:1 – That is the man, His car was stolen. That is the man whose car was stolen.2 – The door is old. Its handle is broken. The door whose handle is broken is old.4 – Where: It is used after a place.Examples:1 – A tennis court is a place. So / NeitherWe use (so) and (neither) to show agreement.
1- So
- We use (so) to agree with affirmative statements. - After (so) we put the helping verb before the subject.
E .g : 1- They can swim , so can I 2- I am tired , so are they.3- Tom will come soon , so will his friends.
2- Neither - We use (neither) to agree with negative statements.- After (neither) we put the helping verb before the subject.- We don't use (not) after (neither)
