Please make sure that you are practicing fluency with your child at home, both in math and in reading. Fluency is built through repeated one-on-one practice. Students can build fluency in reading by using flashcards for sight words and reading and rereading their texts. Students should have both List A and List B of their sight words mastered by the end of March. If you have lost your copy from your child’s folder, these lists can be downloaded from our class website: http://mrsfangmansclass.weebly.com/useful-websites-and-flashcards.html

Students should be practicing fluency in math with flashcards and math games. Students should be able to recall math facts fluently through 20. That means, they can give the answer to 8+8 or 15 – 6 without having to count on or use their fingers. The more they practice, the easier they become!

Thanks for all your help!
