CATALOGING AND METADATA SERVICES

PUDL to DPUL migrationThe current digital library website (PUDL) is being retired in favor of a new system called “Princeton University Digital Library” (DPUL) developed by Jon Stroop and his team. Collections of material which have MARC records in Voyager are being migrated from the pudl now; other material will be migrated later when additional infrastructure is built. Joyce has been meeting with stakeholders for an introduction to the system and a discussion about ways to organize digital collections in the new system

Digital Princeton University Library (DPUL) manages collections, display and searching, while a second module, “plum”, manages images and individual objects. Collectively DPUL and plum put the control in your hands.

In DPUL you can …

Create and edit your own collection abstracts Create an about page with text and contact information Choose what information you want to display in search results, full displays, etc. Create “feature” pages to highlight upcoming events or showcase special material Choose a specific image, or portion of an image, for the collection, the masthead, and

sub-collections Change the image for an individual object from the default Choose what facets will be available for users

In DPUL (plum) you can …

Reorder images Add or change the label for a specific page Group images into logical structure and supply captions Mark an object which is ready to go live Choose the collection(s) an object belongs to
