DEPT OF PSYCHOLOGY CONDUCTS INTELLIGENCE TEST AT GOVT HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, MARODA TANK, BHILAI

The students of the P.G department of Psychology , St Thomas College Bhilai, conducted intelligence tests (I.Q) on 10/8/18,onthe students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Maroda Tank, Bhilai. This was an effort taken by St. Thomas College and the Principal of the school Mrs. Mitra Roychoudhury and her staff to make the children aware of their strengths and weakness so that they are prepared for competitive examinations in the future .The nature of the test was to check the intelligence in terms of quick analysis, quick response and general mental ability of the students. Their results and corrective measures to be taken were discussed by the trained professionals and Professors of Psychology Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Head of The Department, Psychology and Dr. Sumita Singh Astt. Professor along with Ms Sakshi Sahani and the PG students of the department

A lecture was conducted on 14/7/18 by the dept. of Psychology for the BBA students on POSITIVE ATTITUDE ‘TO BE A SUCCESSFUL MANAGER’ .

DEPT OF PSYCHOLOGY CONDUCTS GUEST LECTURE &WORKSHOP

A guest lecture and workshop on REBT was conducted by the dept for PG students from 10/9/18 to 12/9/18.The resource person was Ms Sumana Mishra,a clinical psychologist practicing at JlN Hospital sec 9 Bhilai.

STUDENTS OF PG DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY ST. THOMAS COLLEGE VISITED PRAYAS, SUPELA, BHILAI

The students of M.A PSYCHOLOGY St. Thomas College visited Prayas Shravan Viklang Sansthan, G.E. Road , Supela a school for hearing impaired students and a training college for the B.Ed & D.Ed students on 8/10/18

The students were given live demonstration of teaching practices in all the classes (1 to 12) and given information about vocational trainings. The Principal of the school Mr. Rajesh Pandey appraised the students regarding the functioning of the school. The PG students of Psychology also visited the Prayas Hearing And Speech Centre where they were taught about the various therapies used . In the audiometry centre they learnt the procedure of BERA and OAE.

The Director and the Principal of B.Ed College of Prayas Teachers Training Institute Mrs. Meena Singh made the students aware of special training given to the B.Ed students on how to teach hearing impaired students . On the whole it was a very enriching experience for the students who were accompanied by Dr. Debjani Mukherjee (H.O.D of Psychology) , Dr. Sumita Singh( Assistant Professor) and Ms. Sakshi Sahani ( Assistant Professor)

DEPT OF PSYCHOLOGY CONDUCTS GUEST LECTURE

A guest lecture on Rehabilitation Psychology delivered by Ms. Swapnil Jana, a rehab psychologist for the B.A and M.A students on 13/11/18. She spoke on the needs and scope of rehabilitation psychology .On the whole it was a very enriching experience for the students who were accompanied by Dr. Debjani Mukherjee (H.O.D of Psychology) , Dr. Sumita Singh( Assistant Professor) and Ms. Sakshi Sahani ( Assistant Professor)

VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME

A visit to the old age home was on 17 Nov, 2018 by students of B.A-II year students. they counseled the old people & distributed fruits.

SHRAMDAN AT AKSHAY PATRA BY BA II YEAR STUDENTS

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Bengaluru, India. The organisation strives to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the government schools and government-aided schools. Alongside, it also aims at countering malnutrition and supporting the right to education of socio-economically disadvantaged children. Students went there to know more about the functioning of the institution & for Shramdan on 8 jan ,2019.

A guest lecture & workshop on the topic “Human Development” was given by Mrs. Deepa Chaudhury, an International counselor practicing at Singapore. She also gave parenting tips for Indian parents and childhood development.
