Macbeth: performance Task: Perform a short scene from Macbeth individually, in pairs or in small groups (approx. 3 minutes performance per person). You can develop any of the exercises performed in class (whoosh, “two truths are told” aside, Lady Macbeth’s soliloquy, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s argument, “Is this a dagger” soliloquy). You can also perform another scene to be approved by your teacher. Content: Your performance should: -Contain some original dialogue from Shakespeare’s Macbeth . -Contain new dialogue that you have written and added to the scene (in Shakespearean or modern English). -Make use of non-verbal dramatic techniques (movement, hand gestures and facial expressions), as well as minimal props, costumes and sound effects. -Utilise tone of voice, volume changes, pacing changes and pauses to heighten drama and convey emotion. -Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of characters from Macbeth . -You also need to hand in a transcript of your performance including stage directions. (or annotate stage directions on a photocopied passage from Macbeth)
