Read the following summary paragraph about the Ingalls family’s day on the prairie. Underline the transition words or phrases that you see. Then write at least 5 sentences about a typical day of yours which includes similar details and uses transition words.

In the morning, Laura and Mary help each other get dressed. Then they each wash, and Ma combs their hair. Ma cooks breakfast, and the whole family eats together. After breakfast, Pa goes off to hunt, the girls do chores, and Ma works around the camp. First Ma washes the clothes, and then she lays them out to dry. Finally, she irons the clothes. When the girls have finished their chores, they are allowed to play and explore. Laura and Mary especially like looking at the animals they see like the rabbits, dickie birds and striped gophers. In the evening, Pa comes home with some game which Ma cooks for the family dinner. They all eat together again. After dinner, they entertain themselves by listening to Pa play the fiddle, and they all sing and dance together. At bedtime, the girls dress in their night gowns and caps and climb into the bed that they share. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
