We will focus on weather. First, we will remind ourselves about the different seasons. Fall is windy, leaves fall, school starts. Winter is cold, snowy, and shorter days. Spring is getting warmer, and flowers are beginning to grow. And now summer. We will discuss how it is different from other seasons. It is hot, the days are longer, and we enjoy lots of outdoor activities. The sun is a star and is very hot – it gives us heat. It also gives us light, It is very big, and very far away. Art: Sun Craft! Using a paper plate, yellow paint, and scissors. Encourage students to paint their paper plates yellow, and wait for them to dry. When dry, encourage students to use scissors to cut the edges of the plate to create sun rays. Students can then use makers, crayons, and googly eyes to create a face for the sun.

Math: Number of the week: 11o Using any materials you have available

to you, encourage and support your student in counting out any items available to you, corresponding to the

TuesdayDate: 7/13/21

Daily Focus: What happens to items that are placed in the hot summer sun? Review what we learned about the sun. Encourage students to think about what will happen if we leave items like ice, chocolate, or candy in the sun. It will melt! Show a video of items melting in the sun to demonstrate the power of the sun.

Outdoor Play: Community Walk: Go on a community walk and notice how people protect themselves from the sun. How many people are wearing sunglasses? Hats? Do you see anybody using umbrellas to protect them from the sun?

Daily Focus: We will continue talking about summer weather. We will discuss the hot sun and what people wear in the summer: hats/sun visors, short sleeves, shorts, dresses, swimming suits, flip-flops/sandals, and sunglasses. Read the book Let It Shine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0tjJImHyHg

Help students explore the sounds of letters and the sounds of letter combinations.

Art: Sun visor craft! Students will create a sun visor to protect their eyes from the sun. Using a paper plate, cut out a moon shape. Then, have the students decorate the sun visor and they can add their name. Once decorated, add a pipe cleaner, string, or piece of elastic to the back of the sun visor, which will help them wear the sun visor on their heads.
