Activity: Paper Plate Jellyfish

You Will Need:

- Paper plate [cut in half]- Paint- Scissors- String [or construction

paper]- glue/tape- Black marker

Directions:

1. Once your paper plate is cut in half, have your scholar paint his/her jellyfish.

2. Take any color of construction paper and cut 8 long stripes of paper.

3. When your paper plate is dry, glue the stripes on the back of the paper plate jellyfish

MATH- Practice 1:1 correspondence using dried pasta, coins, or various other household manipulatives. Have your scholar draw a card from a deck—whatever number they have, they must count out that many manipulatives (i.e. Draw a 5—count out 5 pieces of pasta—1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Outdoor Play- Students will go outside and have a picnic with their family and/or close friends. Who will they bring? This can be done in the front yard, backyard, or even a park (if possible). What do you need for a picnic? They will pack a few of their favorite snacks: oranges, watermelon, pretzels, sandwiches, etc. They can also pack bubbles, chalk, etc. to play with.

Art- After the family picnic students will go back inside and draw their favorite part of the picnic that took place earlier. That could be eating their favorite foods, a portrait of the family together, or them playing with bubbles, chalk, or anything that they packed to play with for the picnic. Was this their first picnic? Would they want to do it again? Why?

Literacy- Students will create letters (words if they can) out of the seeds they saved from Monday. What letters can you make? They can try with the first letter in their name and move on to the rest of the letters if they can.

Fine Motor/Math- Pull out a picture of the American Flag, have your scholar do his/her best to count the stripes, by placing a bean on each one. First count the red, then the white! If your scholar can do that, move on to counting the stars!

Sensory Play- What items can float in water? Using a bucket of water, gather several objects from around the house. Which objects sink, and which objects float?

Blocks- Students will build their own beach! If they already have blocks at home, that’s great. If not, they can use any extra materials that are at home to add to it. Ex.tan shirt or socks for sand, shoe boxes for castles, etc. Students can also have family members dress up in beachwear and pretend they’re laying on the beach. What will be at my beach? Is it going to be a big beach or a small beach? Will there be food?

LIBRARY/ MEDIA-Smiley Shark

need the following ingredients:● 1 cup Whole Milk (or any

milk of your choice)● 2 tbsp White Sugar● 1 tsp Vanilla Extract● Ice● 6 tbsp Kosher Salt● Large Plastic Freezer Bag● Large Plastic Container● Spoons & Bowls

Directions: 1. Fill the plastic container most of the way with ice. 2. Sprinkle kosher salt over the ice.

3. Pour milk into the plastic freezer bag. 4. Add sugar and vanilla extract.5. Have an adult press out the air from the plastic bag and zip it closed. Be sure that the bag is sealed tightly! 5. Put the freezer bag into the container with the ice. Top with more ice if needed.6. Seal the container and shake it!7. Take turns shaking up the ice cream for about 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened.
