Pot Luck is Back!!! New Time for Loaves and Fishes From Pastor Tony Greetings and Peace to You from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! The sermon that received the most feedback since I started at Hedgesville was “Burn the Ships,” preached on August 16, 2020. The Holy Spirit moved through many in the congregation and folks began to do some serious self-examination. Part of that process uncovered some real-life struggles with forgiveness. I must confess this was a very hard lesson for me to learn as letting go of bitterness and anger was a major stumbling block for me. Once I was able to forgive others, I could feel the power and presence of God and see His purpose and plans for my life. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6; 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” It is my continued prayer that everyone will put their full trust in the Lord and He will reveal His marvelous plans to each of you. Praising and Serving Him! Pastor Tony I LOVE Fall!! This weather makes me feel like life is settling down a bit (I’m sure those who have “back to school” feel differently)—just in time for the rapid pace of the holidays. We’ll soon be wrapping up 2020. As I reflect on this year, it’s easy to look at the challenges, devastation, and turmoil that we’ve seen during this pandemic. While it is important to know what’s going on in the world, I like to look at the positives. I’ve been able to spend more time than ever at home with my family. It has really meant a lot to me. Pot Luck is Back!!!New Time for Loaves and Fishes

From Pastor Tony

Greetings and Peace to You from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

The sermon that received the most feedback since I started at Hedgesville was “Burn the Ships,” preached on August 16, 2020. The Holy Spirit moved through many in the congregation and folks began to do some serious self-examination. Part of that process uncovered some real-life struggles with forgiveness. I must confess this was a very hard lesson for me to learn as letting go of bitterness and anger was a major stumbling block for me. Once I was able to forgive others, I could feel the power and presence of God and see His purpose and plans for my life. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6;

“5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;  do not depend on your own understanding.

6 Seek his will in all you do,  and he will show you which path to take.”

It is my continued prayer that everyone will put their full trust in the Lord and He will reveal His marvelous plans to each of you.

Praising and Serving Him!

I LOVE Fall!! We’ve really enjoyed these past few months settling down at HUMC. It’s been nice to see Sleepy Creek & HUMC start to mingle with each other and we look forward to much more of that. It’s also been great to see some of the positive changes taking place at HUMC and so many smiling faces. We look forward to so much more as we get into the season of Thanksgiving.

With Love,Jen

Prayer Chain

Loaves and Fishes Fourth Friday 9am to 11amJanice Leonard Help is always appreciated We would greatly appreciate any contributions

Loaves and Fishes began as a pilot satellite food pantry on February 2, 1993 with the purpose of reaching our North Berkeley neighbors.  At first distribution was held twice a week but later became a larger production at once a month.We have thirteen churches who support us as well as some church organizations, community input and private donors. Volunteers come from the community and the local food store has always been the backbone for purchasing. The county farm markets are our friends. Some folks drop off bags of food, others donate money, and some have food drives.  Many hours are spent in planning, ordering food items, stocking shelves and bagging groceries that are never seen by the public. Thankfully we have great volunteer workers.  Very often we hear stories from our patrons; some are about the absolute appreciation for additional food for family meals. Frequently, we hear of hardships, passing of folk's loved ones, loss of work, illness, etc. We have workers who are compassionate and can give counsel or other support to the needy.We have a table of donated helpful items: used everyday shoes, boots, coats, children's hats and gloves or useful items that are free for pick up and sometimes we offer coffee for people to chat and socialize. It is amazing how many folks are lonely and this is their chance to visit.

Loaves and Fishes serve the fourth Friday of the month except November and December when we serve the third Friday. YOU CAN BE PART OF OUR FAMILY!
