Word of The Day
Write a sentence with your word of the day.
Monday: Compassionate
Tuesday: Infinite
Wednesday: Fallible
Thursday: Optimistic
Friday: Lousy
Daily Sentence Work
Monday: Doug the Pug was running. He was chasing a cat.
Can you make these two simple sentences into a compound sentence by using a connective which is not 'and' ? (Remember FANBOYS Co-ordinating conjunctions- for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so )
Tuesday: Doug the Pug was running. He was chasing a cat.
Can you make these two simple sentences into a compound sentence by using a punctuation. This could be a semi-colon (;) or a dash (-) but not a comma (,).
Wednesday: Can you write a simple sentence followed by a compound sentence?
For example:
Bob's hands were shaking! He was playing 'Among Us' and he was 'sus'.
Remember a simple sentence has one piece of action. A compound sentence has 2 equal clauses. Two things happen in it. It is made up of two sentences joined togetehr with a co-ordinating connective. (Remember FANBOYS).
Thursday: Your sentence for today is:
The egg started to crack.
You are going to add a fronted adverbial to this sentence. This is a good way of adding variety to your sentence openers. A fronted adverbial goes at the beginning of a sentence. It describes the action or the verbs which come next. It can be used to describe when, where or how the action is happening. A fronted adverbial is always followed by a comma.
Here are some examples. (The fronted adverbial is in green.)
Quickly, Doug the Pug chased the cat.
After dark, Slappy the Dummy roamed the streets.
As soon as he could, Bob pulled out his tablet and began placing 'Among Us'.
Friday: Your sentence for today is:
The creature emerged from the egg.

Health and Wellbeing
Since we are working from home and are working online, Internet safety is something we need to be especially aware of.
Watch the following video:

Afterwards tell an adult what you have learnt or make a poster about Internet safety.
Topic
Topic research project: Natural Disasters
Due 31 January 2121 23;59 pm
Instructions
Our topic this term is about Natural Disasters. I am giving you a challenge to investigate a natural disaster. It could be about earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, avalanches, flooding, landslides, etc. you could write about one of these in general terms or you could look at an actual event.
You will need to find out the falling:
· What causes the event
· What effect it has on people
· What effect it has on animals
· What effect it has on the landscape
· Why Scotland is less likely to suffer devastating natural disasters than some other countries.
Your big challenge is to find a way of presenting what you have learnt digitally and in a fun way. You might want to type up a report using word or even make it up in the form of a newspaper report, make a pamphlet on Publisher, make a PowerPoint, film a news report or if you know how to use Scratch, you could present it as an Interactive story.
I realise that PowerPoints and films can be big files that are not easy to download on here but there are ways round that, and I can talk you through that when you are finished your project. Just have fun investigating and as always try your best.
