May 2020 Year 1 Home learning
Year 1 Additional Home learning tasks.Draw, colour and cut out a
variety of 2D shapes.
Make a picture using the shapes. Can you make a house, a rocket
or a dinosaur?
Build a den either inside or out in the garden.
Share a story inside the den. Eat your lunch inside the den. Play a game inside the den.
Write a short story based on your favourite TV programme.
You can choose any characters you like from for example, Paw Patrol,
Ben and Holly or Fireman Sam.
Remember each story needs a beginning a middle and an end.
Draw a circle, a square, a rectangle, a triangle, a pentagon
and a hexagon. Next to each shape write down
the number of sides and the number of corners it has.
Play a game of Hide and Seek.
Hide objects around the house and then give clues to describe where you
have hidden them.
Write a letter or post card to a member of your family or a friend.
You could tell them about the things you have been doing while at home and ask them to write back so they can share with you what they have
been up to. Go on a shape hunt around your
house. How many things can you find that are square shaped? How
many rectangular shaped objects and how many circular
objects? Create 3 lists.
Do some baking. Bake a cake, some brownies or bread.
Take photos or write out the recipe. Read a story and then add actions, sound effects and props to retell it
with/to your family.
Make some repeated patterns with shapes.
Collect some twigs and make some art work or a structure with it. Write an across stick poem about
summer
