PRIZE LIST 2018All trophies are awarded for 12 months and must be returned one month before the next show.

Rosettes to be awarded in all sections for cattle, sheep, horses, sheep-dogs, dog show & vintage machinery.

Exhibitors are requested to send their entries to the appropriate Section Secretaries as per the names and addresses as given on the entry forms. The Association will not accept responsibility for any entry which is delayed in the post or other means of transmission and which arrives after the closing date.The Association will not be responsible for any error, which may appear in the Schedule or Catalogue.

SECTION 1 - All livestock to remain on the show field until 4.00pm.DAIRY CATTLEAccredited cattle only

EBL ATTESTED CATTLE Separate off loading positions and separate standing will be provided for EBL Attested Cattle. Exhibitors must indicate on the entry form if they intend to exhibit Attested Cattle. Cattle may only enter the EBL area if accompanied by a copy of the current Herd Certificate of Status. (CH103)

BRUCELLOSIS(ENGLANDANDWALES)ORDER1981 The Association intends to provide conditions in the judging and standing areas which will comply with this order. In the event of any unexpected incident with an animal the owner must make his own arrangements to segregate and remove the animal and ensure the order is satisfied. OBF cattle only can be entered.

LOCAL DISTRICT for livestock and horse classes comprises owners postal address: Glaisdale, Egton, Ugthorpe, Roxby, Lingdale, Moorsholm, Kildale, Farndale, Rosedale and all areas within the area.

Prize Money: First £20, Second £15, Third £10. Entry Fee : £2

A Rosette will be awarded to the champion of each breed.

Class1 HeiferinCalf–AnyBreed2 Heiferwithallcalfteeth–AnyBreed3 SPECIALPRIZEof£10forbestgroupofCattle.TheGrouptobethreefemales.4 BestDairyHeiferCalf,under6months.5 DairyCalfunder3months,tobeshownintheringbyaBoyorGirlunder12years ofage. As marks awarded will be 50/50 for the Calf and the way it is groomed and shown, it is not necessary that it is the property of the exhibitor.

The J. GILL MEMORIAL CUP will be awarded to the winning best group of cattle. Cup to be held for one year.

The MACDONALD CHALLENGE CUP, presented by the late N MACDONALD Esq., MRCVS, will be awarded for the best Holstein Friesian Heifer in calf.

The MOORLODGE TROPHY will be awarded to the Champion Holstein Friesian. Trophy to be held for one year.

A trophy will be awarded for the Champion in the Dairy Section.

£80 towards prize money in the Dairy Cattle Section is kindly donated be Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream.

A SPECIAL PRIZE of £5 each for best child handler in Calf Classes. SPECIAL ROSETTE will be awarded.

HIGHLAND CATTLE

SECTION 2 - All livestock to remain on the show field until 4.00pm

Prize Money: First £20, Second £15, Third £10. Entry Fee: £2.00.

RULES FOR SHEEP DOG TRIALS

1 Trials to commence at 10.00am prompt.2 All dogs, except when competing, must be held by a cord or chain, under penalty of being disqualified.3 Any dog five minutes late after their name is called will be disqualified at the discretion of the Judge.4 Owner of dogs will be liable for any damage.5 Any competitor disobeying the Judge, or any of the authorities, will be disqualified.6 No-one will be allowed with the dog competing except the person working it, who must take their place where the Judge directs, under penalty of being disqualified.7 The Committee will decide as to the time the dogs will have allowed them to do work set out.The Judge has the power of ordering up as soon as he pleases any dog that commits a flagrant error.8 The Competitors must inspect the sheep, and any objection in regard to them must be made to the stewards for the dogs before judging commences.

DANBYAGRICULTURALASSOCIATIONRegisteredCharityNo516152ExtractsfromtheConstitution.1. The Association is established to promote the advancement of agriculture for the public benefit

by holding an annual show at Danby. Membership is open to any person interested in furthering the work of the Association.

2. The honorary officers of the Association shall be the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary. They shall hold office until retirement or removal by a resolution of an Annual General Meeting. Any vacancy shall be filled by resolution of an Annual General Meeting.

3. The administration shall be carried out by a committee consisting of the honorary officers and sufficient members.

4. The Annual General meeting shall be held in January each year, members to receive 21 days notice. Special meetings may be convened at the request of the committee or four members at 21 days notice giving details of the business.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICYDanby Agricultural Association is committed to safeguarding the health and safety of its members,exhibitors, vendors, visitors and all who may be associated with the operation of its show at Danby. The Association will make safety a major consideration in planning its activities, and it will actively seek the cooperation of all who participate in its activities in preventing harm to themselves and others.

RESPONSIBILITIES1. The Association, through its committee and officers, will make all reasonable efforts to ensure

that this policy is implemented and updated as necessary to take account of any new legislation or guidance.

2. The Safety Officer, on behalf of the Association, will make reasonable efforts to give guidance on the policy at a detailed level. He will, in consultation with others if appropriate, identify the standards to be set and advise on how they may be achieved.

SUPPORTANDADVICE1. The Safety Officer should be aware of legislation and other guidance affecting safety at the

show. He should attempt to make the Association, and its exhibitors and vendors, aware of the implications of such legislation and guidance and how such requirement can be satisfied.

2. Professional support for the health of people and livestock is provided on the showfield by the presence of the Honorary Medical Attendants, Medics UK, and the Honorary Veterinary Attendants. North Yorkshire Police are in attendance and will be alerted in the event of any emergency.

3. The Stewards appointed by the Association will, on behalf of the Association, ensure as far as reasonably practicable the safety of exhibitors and public and the welfare of livestock in their respective areas. Exhibitors and public should cooperate with and obey any instructions from the Stewards.

GENERAL1. All portable electrical and gas appliances should have been tested by a competent person. This

is the user’s responsibility.2. Any machinery on display should be adequately supported to avoid movement. The public

should be kept at a safe distance from any machinery which is operated for demonstration or exhibition purposes.

3. Any hazardous article or material should be transported and stored safely. Anyone proposing bringing any hazardous items onto the showfield should notify the Safety Officer in advance and comply with any requirements laid down.

4. Stewards, exhibitors and vendors should ensure that their activities do not obstruct the free movement of people or their escape route in case of emergency.

5. No person shall indulge in any activity on the showfield which endangers his own or any other persons safety, or angers or excites any livestock. Dogs not competing are strongly discouraged, and must be on a lead at all times.

6. All exhibitors, vendors and members of the public are required to cooperate with this safety policy, and to obey any instruction of the Association’s officers or stewards in connection with this policy.

RULESFORTHESHOW-readcarefullybeforefillingintheentryform.This Schedule and Prize List is issued subject to any order that may be passed or made by DEFRA or North Yorkshire County Council.

1. Association’s prizes are open to all persons except where otherwise specified. No stock debarred for having won Premiums at former shows except where specified.

2. Schedules and entry forms obtainable from the Secretary. All entries and entry fees to arrive with the appropriate Section Secretary on or before Wednesday 1st August. The Association accepts no liability for postal or other delays. No stock permitted on the Show Field without a Ticket from the Secretary. Entry Cards will not be sent to anyone who has not paid Entrance Fees by the closing date.

3. All entries to be shown in the Catalogue, except for Riding and Jumping Section and the Dog Show. The Association will make every effort to ensure accuracy but will not accept no legal liability for any error or omission in the Schedule or Catalogue.

4. Entrance Fees chargeable as shown in the schedule. Entrance money once paid shall not be returned. An Exhibitor paying £4 or more in the entrance fees will receive ONE exhibitors ticket which admits the holder to the showfield. All Exhibitors of large livestock will receive one free parking ticket for van/trailer.

5. Every Subscriber of £15.00 shall be deemed a patron for the current show, and receive a badge admitting 2 adults and 2 children.

6. Admission to the field £5.00 each, Children under 5 free, 5 to 16 £2, Senior Citizens £4.00. Limited number at Ringside £4.00 each. Free car parking provided adjacent to the Show Field.

7. Stock of every description (except horses for pony sports) should be in the Show Field by 9.30 am on the day of the show, and to remain on the ground allotted to them until 4-00pm, except by special permission of the committee. Horses for Jumping Classes to be on the Show Field by 9.30 am

EntriesinTheMarqueestobeinplaceby10.00a.m.andremainuntil4.30p.m.exceptbypermissionoftheStewards.

8. All disputes to be decided by the Committee, and not subject to any proceedings at law. Objections must be given in writing to the Secretary within one hour of the Judge’s decision. The sum of £10.00 to be deposited with the Secretary, which sum shall be forfeited if the objection were deemed frivolous, but returned if the objection is sustained. Any expense incurred must be paid by the person against whom the Committee gave their decision.

9. The Association will take all reasonable practicable measures to ensure the safety of the public, exhibitors and livestock. Exhibitors, vendors and the public are also required to cooperate in ensuring the safety of themselves and others. They must comply with appropriate instructions issued by the officers of the Association or the Stewards on the Show Field. Riders must wear approved protective headgear. Exhibitors and vendors must have public liability insurance available for inspection.

10. The objective of the Association in giving Premiums for Cattle and Sheep is to promote improvement in Breeding Stock. The Judges will therefore be instructed to decide simply according to age and relative merits for breeding purposes of Animals exhibited, and not to take into consideration the present value to the butcher. (Except Butchers Beast and Lamb Sections). They should give preference, other things being equal, to the animal which shows no signs of extra feeding.

11. All exhibits to be the bonafide property of the Exhibitor except where specified. No exhibit to be entitled to Premium if thought unworthy by the Judges. In a class with 3 entries or fewer, prizes are awarded at the Judge’s discretion.

12. The Association can not be held responsible for any article lost or stolen. Exhibitors are responsible for the safety of their own exhibits.

13. Any Exhibitor attempting to influence the Association or its Judges, on the field or in connection with their decision, to forfeit all premiums and be expelled from the Association at the pleasure of managing committee. All forfeited Premiums to return to the Funds of the Association.

14. Exhibitors accept that, as all Stewards are volunteers, they may have exhibits in classes they are stewarding.
