THE SENTINEL JANUARY 2014 NEWS FOR MEMBERS & FRIENDS OF FIRST (SCOTS) PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 53 MEETING STREET CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA 29401 A CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (USA) ORGANIZED IN 1731
Weaving Our Lives Together First (Scots) 2014 Stewardship Campaign
First (Scots) Presbyterian Church 2014 Stewardship Campaign, “Weaving Our Lives Together,” will kick off Sunday, January 12th. Family envelopes will be delivered personally by a fellow member of the congregation and each packet will contain a financial commitment card. Each family will be asked to contribute a piece of fabric that has special significance in the life of their family, along with a “story card,” explaining the significance of the piece of fabric. Families are asked to complete both cards, include their fabric and pass the neighborhood packet on to the next family within 1-2 days. Each family’s fabric will be woven together to form a tapestry that will hang in Molly Wier Hall as a visual representation of how our lives are woven together through Christ and through our participation in the life of First (Scots). Each family’s financial commitment will be woven together to support and to ensure our ministries and missions successfully bring others together in Christ. Please prayerfully consider your family’s involvement in our 2014 Stewardship Campaign.

Music Ministry Structure Changes As we enter the new year of 2014, the Session has approved a change in the structure of our Music Ministry staff. JeeYoon Choi’s position will be changed to Organist and Director of Instrumental Music, and Ricard Bordas’ position will be changed to Choirmaster and Director of Choral Music. Dr. Massie and the Personnel Committee see this as a way of strengthening our overall music ministry and better capturing the individual gifts and interests of our staff and volunteers. This should produce added coordination and communication and get us in a stronger posture as we seek to grow and enhance music at First (Scots).
