About the Program
Textile Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the fiber, yarn, fabrics, chemical processing of textile goods and garment manufacturing. It is the science that deals with all activities and methods which are involved in the process of textile manufacturing. It consists of the law, principles, and scientific techniques which are utilized for development and manufacturing the textile fabrics and all type of yarns. It also studies the principles of science that analyzes the polymers involved in the formation of textile fiber. It focuses on the design and control of the fiber, machinery and products, and apparel and textile process.
In order to fulfil the utmost needs of Textile industry, a great responsibility lies on the Technical Institutions, which impart Textile education. In this direction, the Department of Textile Engineering of PIET is vigorously marching towards the pursuit of technical excellence in Textile education. The institute is the only institute which offers the B. Tech. in Textile Engineering under the ageis of the Kurukshetra University. Students who graduated as textile engineers are working with esteemed companies like Trident, Vardhman, Reliance, Arvind, Nahar and many more. Some have become entrepreneur, while others are working successfully in the government sector.
Textiles are seen everywhere be it clothes, bed sheets, draperies, carpeting, upholstery fabrics or towels. The science behind the production of all these things is Textile Engineering. Textile engineers design and develop the processes, equipment and procedures that create all these fibres, yarns and fabrics.
They can work in plant and design engineering, process engineering, production control and supervision, product development, technical sales and services, quality control, research and development, and corporate management.
Scope of Textile Engineering
Textile Engineering is an integral part of Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology since its inception of 2006. The department have experienced faculty members with adequate exposure to the industry and academia. The department have the 7 state of art laboratories to cater the need of budding engineers
