Dear Parishioners,

At the end of the summer we completed a renovation of the White Room with a new paint job, new tile

floor, new LED lighting, and refurbishing of the kitchen including a new electric stove.

Those who have seen and used the room are pleased with the makeover including the school children who use it as their lunch room everyday. Below are some photos, before and after, that truly show the transformation of the room.

You may recall this parish project could only have happened through your generosity to the Generations of Faith Diocesan Capital Campaign that began a few years ago. As you can see in the tabulations we were truly blessed with a high number of donors as well as the total number of pledges. I am so grateful for your commitment to fulfilling your pledges and I hope you can help in satisfying your pledges regularly now that the parish projects are finished. Some of the bills remain and need to be paid in a timely manner.

If you have any questions about pledges and payments please feel free to contact the Catholic Foundation of Brooklyn and Queens Office at (718) 965-7300 and shortly, I will let you know about a new naming and dedication of the former White Room. I believe you will be both surprised and happy! God bless you.

2nd Q u a r t e r, 2 0 18 The OLS Parish Pastoral Council consists of 12 members whose mission is to represent the parishioners and assist the pastor in matters related to the parish. *

The following is a summary of the most recent business conducted by the OLS Parish Pastoral Council for the 3rd Quarter September 30th, 2018:

Post Baptismal-Holy Family Outreach – PPC members were provided with an update on this important ministry. The purpose of this outreach effort is to encourage families whose children have recently been baptized at Our Lady of the Snows to continue participation in the spiritual life of the parish. The Post Baptismal Holy Family Outreach Ministry began in July of 2015. This year twenty-six “Welcome Letters” and thirty-eight “Anniversary Letters” were sent. The members of this ministry have been diligent in their efforts to assist newly baptized children and their families participate in the spiritual life of the parish.

PPC members were updated on various activities related to the Youth Outreach goal. The Youth Group is in a temporary hiatus. The Parish Council together with the Pastor, Fr. McBrien, continue to explore opportunities to engage the youth of the parish and their families towards the goal of continuing faith formation, instilling a service ethic and also having fun.

The Leadership Committee is working with the ministries, societies, organizations, and clubs (MSOCs) in

the parish. The Leadership Committee helps the various organizations in the parish to identify future leaders and increase participation. The Leadership Committee continues to meet with the current leaders of the various MSOCs to accomplish these goals.

The Parish Council welcomes new members, Clare Gluck, Lisa Ross, Steven Aranha and Joseph

Prabhaker to the Council. An installation Mass will be held on October 21st

at the 11:00 am Mass.

The school supplies drive was a success thanks to the generosity of Our Lady of the Snows Parishioners. The school supplies were shared with Hour Children agency. The agency assists formerly incarcerated women and their children.

The Parish Council and the Leadership Committee will participate in a “Day of Recollection” on October

13th

. The Day of Reflection will provide the Parish Council and the Leadership Committee an opportunity to ask for inspiration to accomplish their goals and objectives.

Ministry Brochures - A rack containing ministry brochures is located in the gathering space. These

informative brochures contain information about the ministries, societies, organizations, and clubs operating in the parish. Contact information is provided in each of the brochures if you need more information or are interested in participating in any of the ministries, societies, organizations, and clubs.

The Parish Council is reviewing and updating goals and objectives. Input from parishioners regarding issues and ideas are always welcome.
