Goals of Field Trip
• Education about the environment • Farming in an urban setting?• Recycling and it’s importance!• Eliminate misconceptions!
Objectives
• All students can positively impact the environment regardless of their location!
• Students will get involved in hands on food science experiments
• Learn the purpose and goals of Growing Power
• Introduction to vermicomposting and application inside and outside
Driving Questions
Application
• 5 important terms:– Composting– Vermicomposte– Organic materials– Earthworms– Recycling
Field Trip Logistics• For 40 students:
– $5 normally, but for a group of students approximately $2.50
– 2-3 chaperones in addition to teachers– Depending on distance, school bus as
transportation– No specific waivers for Growing Power,
follow school procedures
Permission SlipRoom 20 will be traveling to Growing Power for a field trip on December 4th. We will be leaving at 9:30 am and returning by 1:30 pm.
I give permission for to attend this class field trip. date .
I am able unable to be a chaperone for this field trip.
Lesson Plan
• Purpose: Application
• Build class vermicomposting center
• Outdoor composting (If available)
• Worksheet to help understand related terms
• Reflect on experience, knowledge gained, and importance
