The Island has great pubs and venues with plenty of character and all of them offer extra-special live music experiences during this year’s Acoustic Isle. The Acoustic Isle experience begins before you even land; on the first weekend there will be live performances on Red Funnel’s sailings in both directions on 28th February and 1st March, and on Wightlink’s car ferry service from Portsmouth on 28th February and 8th March.

Among the many highlights, enjoy musical performances from such varied artists as the Cat Skellington jazz quartet, the crazed genius of John Otway, British Blues guitar hero, Marcus Bonfanti, London-based Indie Folk duo The Worry Dolls and many more.

Catch gigs in unusual venues such as the Garlic Farm, the Pearl Café, the former church at Ryde Aspire and even alongside the race track at Wight Karting.

Diverse musical legacy

Since hosting the first Isle of Wight festival in 1968, the Island has boasted some of the largest performances in the country. Nowadays the Festival and Bestival are both highlights of the summer calendar and Acoustic Isle gives those festival-goers and many others the chance to come back and enjoy the “unplugged” ambience of the Isle of Wight from the relaxed comfort of a bar stool.

The Island is rich in musical events and has become one of the best places to enjoy a range of different styles whatever your chosen genre. From the creative and culturally diverse Rhythmtree and the great family atmosphere of FolkStation, to the amazing student-run Ventnor Fringe Festival and V Dub Island, which celebrates the Volkswagen car and camper van and the culture surrounding them.
