Christina is eighteen and a highschool senior. Kayla is a middle schooler in seventh grade. Jack is in first grade here at Fireside and my four year old William may be starting preschool at Fireside too. Our family pets include two dogs and two desert tortoises. I enjoy time with family and friends, trips to Rocky Point, movies, swimming and of course, a little shopping! I look forward to meeting you and having a fabulous Kindergarten year together! We will have so much fun learning new things together. Get ready for RAZ-kids, engaging writing, math lessons, using technology, 7 continents, Animals 2X2, Color’s/Nursery rhymes & SO much more! Welcome to Fireside! My name is Jessica Salanic and I am a kindergarten teacher at Fireside. I have been teaching for ten years. I have taught kindergarten for eight years and first grade for two years. I have lived in Arizona my whole life and am an alumni of the Paradise Valley School District. I graduated from Grand Canyon University. My husband and I have been married for almost five years. I have two children that are one and three years old. I love spending time with my family, being outside, traveling, hiking and playing soccer. I started playing soccer when I was younger and still play today! Before I had my own kids, I spent most of my free time coaching soccer. I am so excited to hopefully meet you in the fall!

My mom, Cheryl {who is retired}, loves to come in on Fridays & help out. I have 3 sisters, one of which is my identical twin! My dad has his own real estate company as an appraiser. I have a white Persian cat that I adore, named Khloe! I love to hike, exercise, swim, watch movies & spend time with my family/friends. I am a big ASU fan & love to go to their football games with my family. I am so excited that you will be attending FSES next school year! It will be my 10th year teaching {4 years in Pre-K & 6 years in Kindergarten}. I love the littles! Your children will have so much fun learning new things. Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Your child will best succeed entering kindergarten if they know how to:

● Use the restroom alone (toileting etiquette, buttons, snaps, zips...)

● Write their name correctly (1st letter capitalized, the rest - lowercase)

● Write numbers correctly 1-10

● Recognize and write upper and lowercase letters

● Share with others (including not always being first)

● Follow simple 1 and 2 step directions

● Unbuckle and buckle seat belts

● Open lunch containers, milk cartons, juice boxes, baggies, tupperware, utensils from plastic wrap

● Begin to practice tying shoe laces

Kindergarten Readiness Screening

Kindergarten screening date (TBD)

● The screening will take around 15-20 minutes.

● We will assess your child’s knowledge of letters names & sounds, numbers, colors, shapes, sight

words & name writing.

● The purpose of the screening is to help your child’s teacher know what skills he/she possess

when entering kindergarten.

● We strongly recommend your child attends the screening.

● If your child attended any of the Fireside Preschool programs, we would still like them to be a

part of this process.

● We will use Sign-Up Genius to schedule the Kindergarten Screening.
