The World Education Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide a pool of talent across disciplines to source and solve challenges to the world’s most pressing problems. Through a rigorous screening process, The World Education Foundation

identifies global learners with valuable skill sets who are prepared to employ their gifts in collaboration with their

peers for the good of the world.

The WE Foundation is the bridge between academic/expert knowledge and implementation. WE serve as a

clearinghouse for talent as well as an archive for applied solutions by documenting learning from both the

collaborative process as well as the practical progress/breakthroughs/data that each project generates.

Idea Generation + Active Problem Solving in the Solution Vortex

Efforts to implement groundbreaking changes in infrastructure or economic development throughout Global Communities are hampered by three factors:

1) Lack of relationship building, identification of local human capital, and understanding about what communities actually will use, implement and adopt.

2) Lack of effective collaborative effort between community leaders, change makers and technicians.

3) Lack of access to technology, research and solutions implemented in other parts of the world that could be applied to communities with similar desires and needs.

Problems WE have Identified

• Identifying pressing problems for underserved groups in the areas of Energy, Education, Agriculture, Health and Infrastructure.

•Scouting regions where communities are experiencing issues and are ready for change.

•Leveraging local knowledge, capabilities and technological innovation to devise sustainable solutions which are community specific.

•Acting as an instrument for creating awareness about educational priorities and local needs.

• Implementing solutions with locals to empower, develop and sustain problem solving, fluid enough to iterate over time.

WE Solve Problems by

SOLUTION

1) Identifying and preparing global citizens to cross borders and disciplines with humility, cross-cultural sensitivity and a learning mindset.

2) Employing the WE Collaborative Process (a responsive operating system) to support cross-cultural collaboration between solution seeking individuals, organizations and community leaders.

3) Coordinating comprehensive, cross-disciplinary solutions by forming flash-teams of PAR prepared, WEcP trained, students, professionals and experts ready and able to design, create and implement correct solutions for complex problems.

The WE Foundation Solution Vortexes will initially maintain strategically located

design spaces in Silicon Valley, Oslo, New York, Nairobi, Monaco

and Shenzhen,China as the primary mechanism for training and deploying the

WE Foundation Global Specialists.

Platform: What are WE doing that’s bigger than us?

• Under our Responsive Operating Model, WE will encourage others to build on top of the platform created, because we can accomplish more together.

WE-Foundation Responsive Organization System:This manifests in a visionary Purpose, that guides People through an agile Process, and enables Projects designed to evolve into Platforms for the world to build upon.

Purpose: Why are WE doing this?

• To integrate researchers, knowledge, expertise, and resources in support of development research in local and global communities. To disrupt the current development space to include creatives, technologists, and designers in solving problems. WE believe in creating value for our beneficiaries.Concepts, designs, and development of customized projects will be managed and operated by the World Education Foundation.

People: Who will Do this?

• Each pod will have highly talented individuals who can excel in collaborative settings. WE will explore and create synergies with learning institutions and experts to harness their undergrad, graduate and alumni to develop unique learning experiences for students and staff.

Process: How will WE do this?

• We will engage the brightest minds to research, consult, and manage projects for new and existing industries in local and global communities. We will be focused on experimentation, autonomy, and speed, while maintaining a transparent and rapid R&D process that is communicated to stakeholders and participants at every stage, from idea, to design, to development, and implementation.

Project: What are WE doing?

• We are creating programs that are flexible enough to evolve as the communities evolve. WE will work with participants to continually refine programs until every element is working in symbiosis. Each project will have its meta reasoning for engagement along with detailed objectives to be accomplished through implementation.

Initiated March of 2011 (now locally sustainable)

• Nearly 56 tons of quinine have been cultivated and delivered to Pharmakina, in the city of Bukavu.

• The raw material has been able to be processed into over 364,651 treatments for malaria.

• 80% of participants increased production and sales, after 3 months entering the program.

• The initiative created over 100 new direct or indirect jobs in the Farming, Pharmaceutical and Transportation industries.

Improving Malaria Treatment Production and Access in DR CongoCurrent Projects

Alleviating Poverty Through an Integrated Bio-Diesel program in DR Congo

Initiated June 2012-Present

• Project will create 8,000 direct and indirect jobs in the district of Ruzizi Valley and Fizi Mountains in the DR Congo.

• 2 proposed sites will supply the region with 3.5 million liters of biofuel

• Plethora of by-products

• Increase income 5 to 8 times current capacity ($2000 usd/py to $10000-$16000 usd/py.

• Solution for importing fossil-diesel arriving from Mombasa, Kenya (1,531 km away)

• Working lab to explore further alternative energy sources

Youth Empowerment Program (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia) Conflict Resolution

Initiated January 2013

• Created relationships with local stakeholders in Morocco (Laayoune, Dakhla, Casablanca) and Algeria (Algiers, Tindouf refugee camps),

• Developing a Youth “Social Leadership Academy”

• Recruiting/providing capacity training to 40 students (16-35) from each region

• Three Year Program will:• Foster local awareness concerning protection of human rights related to

women and children• Enhance linkages, between individuals, communities, government and

service providers • Decrease health risks and bring about basic improvements in the lives of

the children• Create youth social leaders for Peace through Education• Develop local Social Entrepreneurs

Current Projects

Alternative Livelihood Program -Kolwezi, DR CongoInitiated May 2015

• WE are working with the Good Shepherd Sisters and Institut Superior Des Techniques Appliquees (Technical College) in Kolwezi, DR Congo.

• Evaluating solutions in; Renewable Energy, Agro-Business, Health, Water and Sanitation.

• May 2015-have completed field visit and currently generating feasibility study and implementation strategy for a 20-40 hectare farming land owned by the Good Shepherds Sisters.

• Outcomes:• Create alternative jobs for artisanal miners in Kolwezi, DRC while

improving energy, health, farming and supply chain activities. • Decrease health risks and bring about improvements in the lives of the

children and local workers.• Create youth social leaders for Peace through Education• Develop local Social Entrepreneurs

SNAPSHOT JOURNEY OF THE FOUNDERMarques D. Anderson is the founder and director of the World Education Foundation, currently engaging in international research and development projects. A firm believer in the collaborative economy, he is developing innovative ways to push sustainable, value-added programs in countries with an abundance of potential. He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in American Literature and Culture.

Marques began his professional career working in the National Football League as an American football safety, after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2002 and playing for 5 seasons. In 2006, Marques met his Dutch mentor and decided to leave his NFL career to move in a different direction. Inspired by Paul Hawken and his book Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution, he embarked on a new journey focused on contributing to the principles which highlight sustainability in human, social, environmental and economic frameworks. In 2007, Marques travelled through Europe for 10 months. During this time, Marques worked with professors, private sector professionals, tech companies, local leaders, and government entities focused on sustainable development. In 2009, Marques returned to his formal studies and received his Masters in Adult Learning and Global Change from Linköping University in Sweden. In 2010 Marques created the World Education (WE) Foundation and traveled to South America for 5months to immerse himself in the Global South on a journey to share stories and develop practical knowledge in education modeling, agricultural practices and micro-financing. Since then, WE Foundation has established an international network of experts and volunteers who assist in project structure and implementation in four key developmental areas: Health, Education, Infrastructure and Sports. The foundation is currently involved in two projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Malaria and Bio-Diesel), one project in Northern Africa (Youth Leadership Academy) and five American Football Projects in Eastern Africa. Looking to innovate and build with brilliant people across borders, Marques has dedicated his resources and life to creating sustainable programs in some of the most underdeveloped regions in the world.
