“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

At the Easter Vigil, we as a community welcomed nine new Gifts into our Catholic faith. Joseph Diatto, Ermelinda Gega, Solange Kwam and Remy Lesinski were Baptized, Confirmed and received First Eucharist. In addition, Scott Dibert, Giulia Santos dos Reis, Garrett Johnson, Dorianne Kwam, and Chris Vo were Confirmed and received First Eucharist.

Back in August, this group of individuals started to meet with a common interest of getting to know the Lord more intimately. Over the next couple of months, the Catechumens and Candidates began to learn what it means to be Catholic and how to “let Christ into their lives.” This group became like a family

How Can I show mercy to those who doubt?

I think we all have people in our lives, often including close friends and family, who are just not ready to believe in Christ. We hope that Christ will one day present himself to them, and they will come to trust and believe in God. What an awesome day that will be! The question is, how do we lead them to that point?

In today’s gospel, Jesus made a specific point to reveal himself to Thomas, despite his doubt. Jesus chose to meet Thomas where he was rather than giving up on him or being offended that Thomas needed proof.

How can we meet the unbelievers in our lives where they are? It’s not nagging them about coming to church or being disappointed when they choose to stay home while the rest of the family attends Easter Mass. No, we must continually pray for them and accompany them where they are. We need to be Christ to them through our kindness and support.

We must trust our loving God that he will find a way to reach them on their journey because that is what He does. It’s only through love and prayer that we can show mercy for those that doubt or do not believe in Christ.

– Matt Kush

CONNECTING POINTas we spent time together in prayer and discerning about the faith.

In March, the group went to The Cathedral and in front of Bishop Fisher proclaimed their desire to become Catholic. Since then, the now Elect and Candidates have received the Three Scrutinies, The Creed and The Our Father as lessons and gifts from the St. Isidore community.

As I stated above, at the Easter Vigil this group of individuals Became Catholic and took their first official step on their faith journeys. I personally ask that we as a community continue to pray for them and include them in the beautiful ministries at the Church. May they continue to grow in their faith and find the true freedom found only in the Word of our Lord. We ask this through Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life for all.Amen.

“Christian living is about being ‘touched’ by Jesus so that the fleeting moments of glory are made permanent in bettering the lives of others. And so we bring the tenderness of Christ to all persons who are destitute and forgotten. In this way Christ touches others through us.” -ANONYMOUS

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRYPrayer blankets & shawls are available at no cost in the St. Isidore Church office.

There are times when we know people who need comfort. Sometime or another, everyone faces serious problems: sickness, the death of a family member or friend, disappointment, frustration, you name it. People need comfort. Where shall they find it? In God, of course, and through us, as Jesus called us to do.

The “love of neighbor” command is ours to embrace. We can bring this love to someone by a visit and a gift of one of our prayer blankets or shawls.

Please give a prayer blanket or shawl to someone who needs comfort this week. There is no charge for these items. Get and give a blanket or shawl to a person you know.

Thank you for your participation in this ministry.“The Comfort Crafters”

ST. ISIDORE CHURCH MACOMB, MICHIGAN 10

In this season of new life, we can realize how much we are dependent on the church through life stages. We begin with baptism, receive the sacraments, and celebrate marriage. All of these are joyous moments in life.

There is a time of great need, however, when our beloved are brought for their funeral in the final moment of life in the church. It is a time when the family needs care and consolation. St. Isidore has been offering to provide a funeral lunch to the families in their time of grief.

The Funeral Lunch ministry has two parts: providing a dessert for the luncheon and helping to prepare the setting and serve the lunch. The ministry has been blessed with many volunteers in both roles through the years. As with many volunteer groups, the numbers have been diminishing as people have moved, had changes in their life, or are simply no longer able to volunteer.

We are in need of additional new people to carry out this ministry so that we can continue offering the luncheons. We would like to replenish the teams so that the teams can rotate. The more people we have, the easier the task. Please consider CONNECTing with the families, REACHing out to them in their time of need to BUILD the caring of our community. Please fill out the form below and return it in the collection, or to the office, or call the office.

I would like to participate in the funeral ministry by:___ Providing a dessert ___Serving at the luncheonName:____________________________________Phone:____________________________________Email:_____________________________________

UTE EASTER

Easter is a time of great joy, when we are reminded that the Lord walks beside us on our journey of faith.

We witness Christ’s living presence in many ways, such as through our support of our local communion of faith through the Catholic Services Appeal. The CSA enables us to reveal Christ’s presence not only to our sisters and brothers with whom we share the Eucharist, but also to those who do not know Christ.

Gifts to the CSA show that Christ is present and active in our world. Indeed, He is risen today. Alleluia!
