Volume 2, Edition 16 March 27, 2017 SIS Hosts Academic Pep Rally for Students This week marks the first round of tests for grades 4 th ,5 th , 7 th ,8 th , and English I and II EOCs. To celebrate their students’ hard work (and to let off some steam and stress), SIS teachers and administrators hosted Academic Pep Rallies on Friday. The Pep Rallies featured the high school jazz band, SHS JV and Varsity cheerleaders, a cave man (aka Jerry Russell), KISS wannabes (aka 4 th grade teachers), and some serious dancers (aka 4 th and 5 th grade teachers). The students were encouraged to do their best and “Rock the STAAR”. Check out the videos on the Snyder ISD Facebook page! SHS Science Classrooms Go Flexible! Two of the upper level classrooms in the SHS Science Department are trying some new seating options to help engage student learning. Students can select from seating options on the floor, in desks, in tables, beanbags, and medicine balls. Flexible seating research has shown to help students increase focus and engagement by allowing personal choice in the classroom. Way to try something out of the box!! SISD & Boot Camp Work Together to Support Students Last week, Boot Camp staff led some SISD students in team building exercises to help promote better cooperation and stronger decisionmaking abilities. Partnerships like this can help all students be successful! SISD Dual Language Listed in Top 3 in West Texas Dr. Richard Gomez and Region 14 returned to Snyder ISD last week to follow up on our progress in the dual language classes. Gomez and Gomez Dual Language and Snyder ISD is committed to educating our students in a dual language program that will create the best possible learning environment to ensure our students' success academically and as future bilingual, bicultural and biliterate members of society.
