Kimberlee Souza’s walk-off solohome run in the bottom of theeighth inning led Washington to a4-3 win against Nebraska in theopening game of the 2013 WCWS.
Washington took a 2-1 lead inthe bottom of the first inning, butNebraska tied the game in thefourth and took a 3-2 lead in thefifth when Tatum Edwards scoredon a wild pitch.
Down to its final two outs in theseventh inning, the Huskies got atriple from Victoria Hayward and asac bunt by Hooch Fagaly drove her in to send the game to extra innings.

four-run sixth, Tennessee handedFlorida its worst loss of the yearwith a 9-2 win on Thursday.
Seniors led the charge for theLady Vols as Melissa Brown, RavenChavanne, Kat Dotson and LaurenGibson combined for six hits, sevenRBIs and four runs scored. Fellowsenior Whitney Hammond scored apinch run while Dotson was just ahome run shy of the cycle.
Ellen Renfroe (18-4) was domi-nant in the circle, allowing just fourhits and two earned runs, whilestriking out nine Gators.

Keilani Ricketts tossed her sev-enth career no-hitter and the 17thno-hitter in WCWS history as Okla-homa cruised to a 7-1 victory overMichigan in the nightcap Thursday.
Ricketts’ performance improvedher record to 32-1 on the season.She struck out 12 and walked two.Michigan’s only run was unearned.
On offense OU put together acomplete team effort. Five differ-ent Sooners combined to drive inthe team’s seven runs.
Sophomore first baseman LaurenChamberlain hit her 28th homerun of the season, driving in her national-best 80th and 81st RBI.

7A two-run homer from Kim Bru-
ins put Texas up for good in thebottom of the fifth inning as theLonghorns went on to a 6-3 winover Arizona State on Thursday.
The Sun Devils broke up whatwas a scoreless game with two runsin the top of the fifth, but Texasknotted the game at two on TaylorThom’s double to right. That’s whenBruins delivered the go-ahead blast.
ASU’s Haley Steele cut into thelead with a solo blast of her own inthe top of the sixth, but the Long-horns responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, thanks to an RBIsingle from Stephanie Ceo and an RBI double by Taylor Hoagland.
