Hello Blue Raider Marching Band! A great opportunity is arriving on Saturday! The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps is coming to SBRHS to rehearse from 2pm-8pm on the turf field! If you are interested in coming to watch the rehearsal, it will be open to the public. I will be here working lights for a Dance Recital until 6:30 pm but Mr. Stewart will be here for the duration. I will join him after the recital. We strongly encourage you to come spend a portion of your day watching how marching ensembles at the

highest level rehearse! You can come for any portion of time between 2 and 8. It is most likely that the corps will be in sectionals before their dinner break and then in ensemble after. I do not have access to their schedule as they write it from day to day. Should I or Mr. Stewart learn of any further details, we will let you know here in the BAND App. As well, we will be posting updates during the rehearsal. Come experience the Spartans on June 8th and cheer on our SBRHS participants!!!

In this course, students will have the ability to create music through the use of computers or any digital media such as cell phones or tablets. Students do not have to know how to read music or play an instrument. They will be provided with hands on technology experience in order to gain a first-hand understanding of the cutting-edge innovations that exist in the Music Technology realm. Students will learn how to manipulate music by creating melody music, music rearranging, and exploring the digital world of music. Students will also be composing music on a variety of software that can be easily accessible at home. They will learn the basic concepts on making beats and music patterns to be used in music compositions. This class will be held July 8-12 and July 15-19 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Summer Band is taught by Mrs. Rausch of the Somerset Public Schools. This class is targeted for students with one to two years of playing experience with a band instrument. The two sessions being offered are from July 8-12 and July 15-19. Students may sign up for one or both sessions. In this class, students will be able to continue to advance their skills and have the opportunity to practice and perform with other students. Students will review and increase their skills through fun music and activities. Summer Strings will now by taught by Ms. Comfrey from Bridgewater State University. Depending on the week of registration, this class will be available for students of all different playing abilities. The first week will be for beginner students (1-2 years of experience), the second week for intermediate (3-5 years) and the last week for advanced (5+ years). The weeks are July 22-26, July 29-August 2 and August 5-9. In this course, students will be expanding their musical knowledge while learning new techniques and exploring fun and exciting musical genres (such as pop, classical and fiddle). At the end of the week, students will have the chance to showcase their new skills in a Kids Summer Learning Strings performance open to parents and friends. Guitar is taught by Mr. Chris Dietz from Berkley Middle School. Students will learn to play guitar in a group setting. This class will be held August 5-9 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. for students in grades 4-8. Students should have their own guitars but if needed one can be provided if notified in advance. Students will start with basic techniques and advance based on the abilities of the players in the group. All students will study different genres of music that make playing the guitar fun and interesting. They will play in standard and tab notation as well as different chords (open and power).
