This premiere Filipino Martial Arts tournament will be held on Sunday, November 13th, 2011 at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton Hotel. Come and witness the
highly competitive and dynamic sport of Esgrima, Kali, and Arnis (sayaws/forms, full contact stick fighting, and padded blade fighting). Alongside the tournament are various other exhibits that showcase Anime, J-Pop
Concert, Cos-play, Asian Cinema, Korean Drama, and many more. This is the only place in California, and perhaps the World, where you can see all of these together in one awesome event.

Masters, instructors, competitors, and guests, let me be the first to invite you to the Way of the Stick and Blade: Tournament of Filipino Martial Arts. This tournament is geared to promote and propagate the Filipino Martial Arts through competition. It is our hope that this event will help give experience to any first time competitors as well as provide those long time practitioners an open venue to test and hone their skills. We will be highlighting several types of competition: Forms/ Sayaws, Full Contact Stick Fighting, Padded Bladed Sparring, and Mixed Weapons Padded Blade sparring. Forms/ Sayaws and Full Contact Stick Fighting follow the rules and regulations of the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF), currently the largest competitive Filipino Martial Arts organization in the world. The current WEKAF USA Western Region Director Master Steve del Castillo of 12Pares Esgrima Orihinal will be coordinating this portion of the event. Any official WEKAF USA judges or referees, who wish to help out at the event, please contact Steve del Castillo at [email protected]. Making its return to the tournament is the Mixed Weapons Padded Blade Sparring. Coordinated by Guro Victor Gendrano, Jr., from the group Filipino Martial Heritage, this portion continues to add another exciting element to the overall event. Featured in this part of the competition is the use of single blade, double blade, and blade and shield…all padded blades of course. This event will run simultaneously with the other events on Sunday. All competitors who pre-register before Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 and the heads of their schools will receive a tournament shirt and a 3-day PMX Convention pass. Unfortunately, competitors who miss the deadline will incur increased costs for registration as well as pay extra for the 3-Day Convention pass and tournament shirt. So make sure you send your registration in early!!! Please come in for early check-in/ weigh-in Friday evening or Saturday morning so you can enjoy the full glory of what the Convention has to offer. There will be a Jeet Kune Do workshop with Sifu Mike Rivas from 10-11:30am on Saturday morning and a Balintawak Eskrima workshop with Master Rino Balinado from 3-4:30pm. Free for all who register early! As mentioned earlier, we would like to provide a positive competitive atmosphere and allow all competitors the chance to gain experience from this event.
