SOLAR PANEL CELLS

Apple are always looking for ways to out do their competitors and are currently developing ways of charging their devices without the use of electricity.

The introduction of solar panels cells that will be inserted into iPad, iPhone and iPod models are currently being developed. The cells would draw energy from the sun which would be used as a power for supply for the gadgets. The cells would be place behind the touch screen, with a transparent back finish to draw as much sunlight to the device as possible. Apple have already applied for the patent and a breakthrough would mean an environmentally friendly way of charging devices. There is no release dates for the

Once you go Mac, you might never go back!

There is no doubting the foothold that Apple has in the world of technology. Their innovative and imaginative ideas have revolutionised the way we see and use technology today. Apple have come a long way from the launch of their first Macintosh computer in 1984.

INTRODUCING THE iPHONE 5

The web is abuzz with the latest rumour of the iPhone 5 release date. Many reliable sources point to an October release, more specifically 21 October 2011. While this will be the 5th iteration of the iPhone after the original, 3, 3GS, and iPhone 4, there is uncertainty whether this model will be called the iPhone 5 as most experts suggest, or the iPhone 4GS. Nonetheless, Apple intends to sell over 25 million units of the iPhone 5 this year with the launch being much awaited, Apple can certainly target such a high sales figure.

It is speculated that the new phone will include advance features and technology from iPhone one of them being higher battery life. As usual, many are expecting the newer model to be thinner and lighter than the existing model with a larger display panel. Rumors of whether the frame will be thinner are unconfirmed as many sources have contradictory reports on the same. The screen is supposed to be 4 inches as well. Apparently, an 8-megapixel camera may also find its way into the

addition, it may feature 32GB flash hard disk, half that of the iPad. Another UK blog has said the iPhone 5 release date will be in March 2012! Clearly, being the contrarian in the debate, but what ever date is the correct one, Apple is sure to bank more money than the US Treasury leaving them green with envy.

solar panel cells just yet, but look out for it in the near future. APPS IN YOUR CAR

Vehicle manufacturers and software developers are currently working together in launching an App dashboard for drivers on the move. At the Beijing Motor show, Ford unveiled the Start Concept car, which inside featured a system called ‘My Ford Mobile’. It demonstrated how the system might look and featured an easily accessible flat screen just above the gear stick. Drivers may have to wait until at least 2012 to see such features in their car as the technology is still being developed.

What sets Econet Mobile apart from the many operators in the MVNO market?

Econet Mobile UK is part of the Econet Wireless International Group that currently serves millions of customers worldwide. We have a burning passion to make a difference in the communities in which we serve. Our organisation is founded on ethics, innovation and honesty. We pride our Pay-As-You-Go international SIM as being an honest and high quality product that delivers on its promise to our customers every time.

What is Econet Vision for the UK Market?

Our vision is to expand our operations within the UK by initially offering the Diaspora a great quality product that will keep them connected to friends and family back home.

Econet is the first African Telecoms company to build a satellite hub in the UK. How proud is Econet UK of such achievement?

We are extremely proud of this achievement which has diversified our portfolio of products we offer. This also gives us more control on the value chain and quality of what we offer.

How would you compare your rates with the other operators in the UK market?

Our rates are very competitive and honest! By that I mean “the rate” we advertise to a destination is exactly what the consumer is

Econet as a telecom brand needs little introduction to Africans living in the UK. They are a big player in the African market, they currently serve millions of customers, provide one of the best call quality among the other operators in the UK and most importantly, they put their customers first before profits and is hailed as an African success story as the first African telecoms giant to operate in the UK.

Wave Magazine caught up with Tafara Muzanenhamo, the National Sales Manager for Econet UK after chasing him for months to give us an interview and finally we caught up with him to tell us more about the African giant and how they plan to continue to service the Diaspora living in the UK

charged. No hidden costs, such as connection fees or management fees. Last year Ofcom commissioned research on the international calling card market, investigating the accuracy of information available to consumers in terms of call charges and terms and conditions. They found that overall actual minutes of calls, once charges had been applied, were 28 per cent of advertised minutes and varied significantly between companies and brands. Econet Mobile pay-as-you SIM gives you quality at great rates.

There is a strong brand recognition of Econet because many people across Africa, see the company, as an ‘African success story’ Do you think Many Africans living in the UK will change their Sim cards to Econet?

Yes definitely. In the short time we have been trading we are seeing this happen every day. Our customer base is growing consistently. Our rates are competitive to Africa as well as other non- African destinations. We also serve as an example of how an African founded business

and Brand can successfully have a global presence which is continually expanding.

What is the added advantage for UK customers to change their SIM cards to Econet Mobile?

As well as great international rates, our Sim offers equally competitive national rates. For example, our current promotion will give you Free Econet UK to Econet UK calls, unlimited. We also offer FREE Unlimited international and national texts. These offer change from time-time so for the latest offers visit our website www.econetmobile.com.

Research has shown that Econet is the best for calling Africa. Why is Econet the preferred choice for Africans living in the UKOur rates are competitive, the quality of the actual call is crystal clear, with customers connecting first time. Our organisation is built on principles

Graffiti Breakz is a multimedia music event which takes place quarterly at the Rhythm Factory. If you’re the real F-Nik – Please stand up! The ‘ethnic but so much more’ rapper has surfaced and is here to be recognised for his talented lexis

F-NIK MAJORITY.

Everybody starts some-where in music and usually it begins with a basic concept with eventual innovation. It appears a veteran art is a symbi-ant for one rapper who answers the question on many a mind. Why aren’t skilled lyricists

providing a delivery over more commercially accepted productions? Is it lack of skill, prefer-ence or fear?

Regardless; the answer to the question is ir-relevant as the inevitable cavalry has strolled into town minus the thick moustache and miss fired testosterone.

F-Nik; from Cambridge is fast becoming folklore in the industry. Elusively recording ma-terial in Reading, Berks with renowned sought after producer ’iLL thought Process’, he leaves the studio (and iLL thought) with the thick skin of inquiry.

Currently, there is a magnitude of rappers turning charity into revenue, profiting from conflict and the inequalities of marginalized communities, standing in front of Malcolm X posters sporting Che Guevara t-shirts.

The uniqueness of F-Nik is that his canvas appearance is filled by his intriguing content and swash-buckling lyricism. No gimmicks, no marketing team.

Soon; the public will become dejected and tired of the conveyor belt activities the music industry has programmed whether indepen-dent or major; the formula is not patented.

Due to the secrecy of F-Nik’s project, there is minimal information available. However, there are approximately three tracks available on the market from him that possess enough fla-vour to leave the spit buds drooling for more. The only aspect I can guarantee of F-Nik’s work is that his venomous skill is potent and the dart it is embedded in is razor.

His amalgamation of content is a musical insurrection by the ears. My one major hope of F-Nik is that the heat he produces boils the blood of the many rappers focused on politi-cal headlines and not story.

F-Nik may be ethnic, but his music is so much more than that.

... interestingly the title of the single is also this. Within the song the rapper speaks of his difficulty finding love due to him being famous and rich. In an interview the rapper revealed that he wanted to move away from the

stereotypical rapping songs and wanted to prove he actually has a lot of heart himself.

How to Love is the third single reduced by the artist from the album ‘Tha Carter IV’. Within the single the rapper speaks about the issues he has had in relationships and that he has now broken the insecurities he previously held in girls. He has managed to move on but had bad bruises, although there is one particular girl that he views as one of kind.

The majority of the song emphasises just how much a certain girl means to him:

“When you was just a youngen your looks were so precious / But now you’re grown up so fly, it’s like a blessing / Can’t have a man look at you for five seconds with-out you being insecure / You never credit yourself, so when you got older it seems

HowtoLove

It takes a brave man to offer a song that is both touching and really; it takes an even braver man to do this when you are internationally famous rapper. Despite this the rapper Lil Wayne has written a song that is all about ...

like came back 10 times over / Now you’re sitting here in this damn corner looking through all your thoughts and looking over your shoulder.”

This is a different side of the rapper that has not been seen before and it is believed that a new lady friend has managed to bring this side out in him. Many of his fans have praised him for turning towards singing and songwriters. It takes a very brave man to move away from the big man image of a black rapper but Lil Wayne has done this perfectly.

In a music scene that is currently full of club ready Euro beat dance pop the song from Lil Wayne offers that something different. Featuring a beautiful acoustic guitar you could be fooled into believing that this was not work of a rap artist, although the vocals of Lil Wayne soon become unrecog-nisable.

This song will cross the boundaries for the rapper and it remains to be seen whether this is the route the artist will take in the future. Music critics have stated this is the best song released by the rapper since the 2008 hit with Kanye West, Heartless.

In his first two seasons in charge Mancini has shaped City into a solid outfit that pride themselves on well drilled defensive performances and clean sheets. It was the natural starting point for the Italian, but now he’s ready to build on this. Aguero’s arrival will add competition to an already impressive forward line and Nasri will offer more flair and

guile in the middle. Mancini’s business certainly suggests he’s contemplating taking the stabilizers off this season and playing a more expansive brand of football. With the attacking talent he has in his squad (Tevez, Dzeko, Aguero, Nasri, Silva etc) that is a sobering thought for the other title challengers, most notably their city neighbours.

Manchester United have added Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David De Gea to their ranks this summer. On paper this is good business from Alex Ferguson. However, he has lost several experienced members of his squad and this could be crucial in the run in. It’s hard to believe that no matter how good De Gea performs he’ll be considered an improvement on Edwin Van Der Sar. Is Ashley Young that much better than what is already there? Nani and Valencia are electric on their day and could well keep Young on the bench for the big games. Phil Jones will struggle to oust the awesome Ferdinand and Vidic at the back, so he hasn’t enhanced the starting eleven either. It could be argued that United have spent huge money just to stand still.

United aren’t alone in this respect. It’s difficult to see how Arsenal and Chelsea have really progressed this summer. Arsenal in particular have lost several key players and replaced them with watered down replicas. All the ingredients are there for a fascinating season ahead, and who’s to say it won’t be the Blue half of Manchester that’s popping the Champaign corks on the top table in May?

LOUDERMoney may not be able to buy you love. Money may not earn you respect. But money will, eventually, buy you the Premier League title.

Ever since Manchester City were handed their gold card by Sheikh Mansour, they have been granted access to dine at the Premier Leagues top table. The ‘big four’ who have been accustomed to gorging themselves there for years were initially blasé in their attitude

towards their new dinner guest. However, the established giants of English football are now beginning to choke on their foie gras. Manchester City now mean business and are set to gatecrash the party.

The additions of Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri this summer is a clear signal to the rest of the league that Roberto Mancini’s side are ready to take the next step. It’s quite remarkable how organically City have grown over the past few years, despite the huge injection of cash from their new sugar daddy. Their first objective was European qualification, which they got. Stage two was to break into the top four and qualify for the Champions League, which they did. Their priority this time must be to challenge for the title, which they can.
