Water Resources
Our Value to Hillsborough County• We provide water at a competitive price, bringing value to services
provided. Cost of delivered water to our customers is less than the average cost for comparable services from other local utilities.
• Water Resources operates assets with a total value over $1.2 billion. • Maintaining these assets are critical to the delivery of drinking water
and the protection of health and safety.
• Providing drinking water to our customers that is safe and reliable is a primary focus. We sample and test our water nearly 30,000 times during the year to ensure we are meeting our obligations to protect public safety.
Success Story
• The Palm River community was developed over 50 years ago and residents relied on shallow wells for drinking water. Water quality was very poor and there was a concern for public health and safety.
• The County initiated a project to extend its drinking water system into the area.
• County received state grants to help pay for improvements to private property.
• A total of 327 residents were connected, approaching 90% connection rate.
• The project was largely successful because of community engagement and support for clean drinking water.
