Week one review
After my first week of recordings I have observed that the bathroom was taking up most of our water use. This was shown by the large amount of water being used in the morning, mainly due to showers. So I put in place a plan that mainly reduces our water use in the bathroom. It also involves re-using water in the garden.
My action planUse a four-minute timer when having a
showerKeep a bucket in the shower to collect the
water as it warms up. (Use this water on plants).
Brush teeth while in the shower.Use dirty fish-tank water on plants.Use dirty pet water on plants.Use plastic container of water to rinse dishes,
after cleaning.Ensure washing machine is full before use.
Expected OutcomesFamily: We think that the action
plan focuses on our key water uses and should reduce our water use in our household.
Outcomes: I predict that the action
plan will significantly reduce our water use in our household, particularly our morning water usage.

Plan review After my second week of
readings it is obvious that my water usage has gone down; however a large part of that improvement was because of a water leak that was repaired just before I started my second week of readings. I have observed from the readings that we use more water on weekends, this is mainly because of laundry and watering the garden (which are mostly done on weekends).
Plan adjustments Since my action plan has been working effectively, the only change will be no longer using part six of the plan. This part has not worked well in our household and will no longer be used as a a part of the action plan.

Final week review After my final week of
readings, I noted that our total water use for the week had decreased by a small amount. Our morning and afternoon uses had decreased, however, our evening use had increased. I think this is due to the fact that showers were being more focused in the evening.

Total Water Use
Conclusions It is clear that my water
usage had decreased after my action plan was put into place, however the water leak was wasting a lot of water each day and was the main reason my water usage had decreased by so much. I still believe that my plan was effective and did have an input into lowering our water use.
ObservationsI have observed from the readings that we, as a household use the most water on weekends mainly because of laundry and garden watering . I have also noticed that shower times also take up the most water. These observations indicate high water usage at certain times of the day and week.
