MOUNT VERNON. KENTUCKY

Water Level Is Very Low

Mt. Vernon City Mayor Carl Brown and the C i t y Council expressed concern, Wednesday, that the reser-voir of water is lower than it has been in mai)y years.

They appeal to the public to use their good judgement in water conservation prac-tices.

They report, after investi-gating, Wednesday,- that the upper third of the reservoir is completely out of the water and dry. A conservative esti-mate is that water level is less .than. half, of 'its usual volume,

Water level has been rece-eding at Ihe rate of Vt inch per day for the last 30 days and will go down faster as the level becomes lower.

Reports are that only one other time in the history of Mt. Vernon has water level been as low as it now is.

Some service stations have stopped washing cars until the shortage eases. Others will be asked to do so. Judge Carter Says - -
