Transportation of water to isolated locations requires large volume convoys

which are expensive and limited in capacity. The logistical burden that goes

along with water supply is very high.

In the industrial sector, drilling exploration, mining, road construction &

outback facilities often extend over several days and weeks. One of the key

factor which allow these operations to succeed in remote areas is offering of

adequate living conditions. Personnel operating on vehicles progress between

different locations while carrying water in closed containers under conditions

that degrade its quality and freshness. Transportation of water to industrial

establishments is an expensive and sometimes dangerous logistical task.

Rural remote villages in developing

countries usually lack an adequate potable

water source. Providing these residents

with means to receive or purify fresh

water is a life saving effort.

Water Treatment Units

• An air conditioner (A/C) unit naturally produces large amounts of water, which is

currently considered to be waste. But discarding this precious byproduct is wasteful,

especially when more energy and resources are required to supply “new” water.

• Therefore, the A/C can be regarded as a water-generating machine. The unique

WTU control system can optimize and increase the A/C water production by

changing the operational mode of several key parameters (e.g., fresh air

percentage, blower operation) without affecting the original purpose of the A/C:

moderating air temperature.

• The water produced by the A/C is purified and

mineralized to create tasteful, healthy water

for vehicles of air conditioned bases

Vehicle Mounted Water Treatment Unit

• Saves water and power by utilizing

an available source

• Weight: 15 kg

• Dimensions : 222X226X313 mm

• Power consumption: 100 Wh

• Can optimize the amount of water

produced by the air conditioner.

• Can be installed separately or as

part of the air conditioners “box” The WTU was honored as

one of the six finalists at the

DSEi Exhibition “Innovation

Challenge” Awards –

London, Spt. 2011

Application Example: Connection to Train Cabin A/C

• Use of the water treatment using to treat run-off water

produced in an air conditioned train cabin.

• System components:

• Water Treatment Unit

• Fully managed storage tank

• Dispensing unit (cold water)

• A/C water production can be increased with several joint engineering efforts.

Spring – Civilian Application

The Need:

Many civilian residential areas in developing countries have local water sources

which cannot be used due to chemical and biological contaminations.

The civilian Spring offers a solution to these remote areas. Based on the

technology developed for military purposes, this civilian, battery-operated unit

can filter highly contaminated water and provide large amounts of pure fresh

potable water to many families, and literally save lives.

Water Quality

1. Water purification process: Specially designed multi-stage filtration system to remove

all water contaminants.

2. Water sterilization process: Advanced process keeps the freshness of the water for

long storage periods using germicidal UVC technology, ozone purification, and

complementary sterilization materials.

3. Water re-mineralization keeps drinking water chemically balanced and improves its

taste.

4. Water preservation: Water is routinely re-purified to ensure overall water quality

5. Met water standards such as EPA, WHO, local country

standards.

Prof. Raphael Semiat, head of the Water Research Institute of the Technion

(Israel Institute of Technology) is Director of Water Quality at Water-Gen.

Water-Gen Highlights 1. Water-from-air:

• The water is free of the pollution hazards found in surface water (residential and

industrial chemical waste; soil- and water-bound pathogenic bacteria).

• The source of water cannot be easily sabotaged (unlike surface or ground water).

2. All units are designed to meet environmental, water standards.

3. Production of water from a natural source available in the environment.

4. Unique Water-Gen technology allows water production at extremely high efficiency.

5. Emergency water available without prior preparation.

6. Reduces dangerous and expensive logistic chains.

7. Very high return of investment (ROI).

Water-Gen Ltd has several patent applications pending (PCT, US Patent, European

Patent, and other countries) for various methods and technologies related to many

aspects in the operation of the Water-Gen units.

India - Client Example

• India confronts one of the world’s biggest water problems, with constantly growing

demands. Residents in rural villages depend on water cans, or local water sources

which are usually inadequate for consumption.

• Water-Gen’s Solutions:

• Water Generation: Supply water-from-air in areas where no other sources are

available. Water-Gen’s technology offers water at a cost as low as 1.5 rupee

($0.02) per liter compared to the 10-15 rupee/liter cost of drinking water cans.

• Water Treatment for train’s air conditioner: continuous supply of fresh drinking

water during the train route, reducing logistics and pollution. At present the water

produced by air conditioners is drained to the ground.

• Civilian Spring: complete purification of water from any chemical or biological

contamination. Operated by batteries which can be used during the day and

recharged during the night. A life saving solution.
