Design Standards - Preferred Equipment Lists 1

Purpose

The purpose of these Preferred Equipment Lists (PELs) is to identify products that have been accepted by Icon Water for use in the Water and Sewerage Networks and to outline any limitations on their use. These PELs are divided in parts that reflect different engineering disciplines that Icon Water has categorised products into. These PELs form part of the Icon Water Design Standards required by the Water and Sewerage Network (Design and Maintenance) Code made under the Utilities (Technical Regulation) Act 2014 which requires Icon Water Ltd to develop, maintain and implement design standards for the Water Network and the Sewerage Network. The Icon Water PELs form part of the design standards and must be read in conjunction with all of the documents that make up the Icon Water Design Standards for the Water Network and the Sewerage Network including Standard Specifications and Standard Drawings. Additional products may be accepted for use after an assessment of the product’s suitability for use in accordance with the Icon Water Design Standards Products and Materials Acceptance Application Guide. In the absence of specific, proposed products and materials for specific projects being in the PELs, these additional products and materials shall be subject to the acceptance by the Manager Water Assets Planning for the Water Network and the Manager Sewerage Assets Planning for the Sewerage Network. Such acceptances for a specific project will not be considered as a precedent for other projects or for general acceptance by Icon Water.

Part C – Water and Sewerage Networks - Telemetry Electrical and Instrumentation Products PEL

Icon Water may choose to free issue telemetry, electrical and/or instrumentation equipment to a contractor. Whether the equipment is issued to a contractor or is supplied by a contractor, the following shall apply:

1. In many of the telemetry, electrical and/or instrumentation equipment categories, Icon Water has established formal Period Contracts for the supply and delivery of equipment within that broad category. While Icon Water has nominated specific preferred units or items within that category, the conditions of the Period Contracts allow access to other equipment ranges or families within that broad category, i.e. special, innovative or non standard solutions may be more appropriate.

2. The following preferred telemetry, electrical and/or instrumentation equipment listings shall include all associated accessories and ancillary devices applicable to the primary equipment within that category whether individually listed or not.

3. Where Icon Water is to free issue nominated equipment and devices this will be specified in the project specification. Accordingly, design consultants and contractors are required to provide to Icon Water, within an appropriate timeframe considering equipment lead times; a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) of all telemetry, electrical and/or instrumentation equipment required to be free issued. The BOM shall include ALL accessories and ancillary items necessary to complete the required works independent of how small or minor. If an item is not identified in the BOM it will not be ordered for free issue. Responsibility for delays resulting from the omission of items from the BOM shall rest solely with the design consultant or contractor or originator of the BOM.

4. Sections 18 to 21 inclusive of this PEL apply to the Complex Sites in the Water Network. Section 22 is an addendum that applies to the Simple Sites in the Water Network. The definition of Complex Sites and Simple Sites is given in the Icon Water Standard Specification - O&M Manuals. Where section 22 conflicts with sections 18 to 21, then section 22 takes precedence at Simple Sites.
