No. 16 overall seeded WSU will face the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona in the first round of play, with Colorado State and Tennessee squaring off in the first contest of the afternoon inside Bohler Gym, Friday, Nov. 30. COUGARS UP TO NO. 19 IN LATEST AVCA COACHES POLL The Cougars jump up one spot to number 19 overall in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, tying Tennessee for the same spot in the poll as well. The Pac-12 remains strong the the rankings with Stanford taking over the number one spot with 63 first place votes, followed by Oregon (14), USC (17), Washington (22), Arizona (23), and Utah, and Colorado each receiving votes. WSU SEES FOUR NAMED TO ALL-PAC-12 TEAMS WSU saw seniors Taylor Mims, and McKenna Woodford named to the All- Pac-12 Team after fantastic regular seasons in 2018. Mims earned her sec- ond overall All-Pac-12 selection, while this was Woodford’s first. Juniors Jocelyn Urias, and Ashley Brown each notched All-Pac-12 Honorable Men- tion picks for the Cougars after turning in stellar seasons as well this year. APPLE CUP W Washington State took back the Apple Cup after falling to Washington in Se- attle earlier in the year, with a five-set victory inside Bohler Gym last Satur- day. The Cougars downed the Huskies in Pullman for the first time since 2009, and the win over No. 19 ranked Washington, which surged WSU ahead in the final rankings to lock down the No.16 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. >> Washington State enters the post-season as the No. 16 overall seed in the 2018 NCAA Championship Tournament, and will be host-ing the first and second rounds in Pullman this coming weekend, Fri-day Nov. 30, and Saturday Dec. 1. MIMS NAMED PRESEASON ALL-PAC-12The senior took home the preseason award after proving herself as one of the top talents in the prestigious conference last season. As a junior, she was the Cougars statistical leader, leading WSU to its second consecutive NCAA Championship Tournament Second Round appearance. Mims’ 4.17 kills per set and 4.75 points per set, both sixth-best in Pac-12, are 30th and 26th, respectively, in NCAA. She had 28 kills and 79 attacks in the 3-1 win NCAA First Round win over Florida State to lead all players in the 2017 NCAA tournament. In that same match Mims also had a career-high 22 digs and 31.5 points. Her 599 points in 2017 was 12th-best in the NCAA. During the Pac-12 season, Mims’ 4.38 kills per set and 4.95 points per set were both are second-best in conference.

BACK-TO-BACK NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP APPEARANCESThe Cougars made their second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship Tournament under WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny...it was the 12th trip to the NCAA Tournament for the WSU volleyball program...Greeny played for the Cougars in the NCAA Tournament (1995, ‘96, ‘97) and was an assistant coach for WSU’s appearances in 2000, ‘01 and ‘02).

MIMS NAMED GLOBAL CHALLENGE MVPDominating the competition at the 2018 Global Chal-lenge in Croatia, rising senior,Taylor Mims took home tournament Most Valuable Player honors at the con-clusion of the tournament after leading the US Colle-giate National Team-Europe to the gold medal. Mims, alongside of Cougar teammate Alexis Dirige, led the US team to a third-straight title after defeating the Mountain West Conference All-Stars, 3-0, in the cham-pionship game.
