• Washington came from the 1st President of the United Sates George Washington.

• The District of Columbia came from the Christopher Columbus who was one of the first known people to explore North America and South America.

• DC is the center of the national government.• The President lives and works here. Who is

the President and where does he live?

• Representatives from ALL 50 states come here to represent their state when they make Laws or rules for us.

• There are judges that make sure the laws are carried out for all the states here too.
