Washed in the Blood Revelation 1:4-8

I. Washed Ones Are Loved Ones. (V. 5)

A. "To Him who loved us…" - Romans 5:8, But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that

while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

- John3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

B. We are washed from our sins by His own blood.

Hebrews 9:22…without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Hebrews 10:4, For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

Galatians 4:4-5 …when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Hebrews 9:11-12

But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.

12Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. (For us!)

1 John 1:7… and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

C. No cross – no cleansing; No cross – no freeing.

"To Him who loves us and washed us from our sins in His own blood"

Hebrews 10:12, But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.

Hebrews 10:26-27, For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

27but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Galatians 5:1

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious

stones, wood, hay, straw, 13each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it,

because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

14If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

15If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

II. Washed Ones Are Lifted Ones (vv. 5-6)

A. “ And has made us kings and priests to His God” (v.6)

And has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father – to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Colossians 1:13, He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.

B. These cleansed one are now fitted for divine service.

1 Corinthians 12:18, But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.

Ephesians 4:11-12, And He Himself gave (to the church) some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

C. Those washed in His blood are exalted from sin to divine service.

III. Washed Ones Are Looking Ones (v.7)

A. Our focus now is on the future. Titus 2:11-14, For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared

to all men, 12teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should

live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great

God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14who gave Himself for us, (He loved us!) that He might redeem us

from every lawless deed (He loosed us!) and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (He lifted us!)

B. Trials here in this life cannot overcome us then.

Philippians 3:13-14, Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

14I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Come to the One who Loves you!

Come to Christ & be washed clean from all sin today!

Come and be lifted to be a part of the kingdom of God.

(v.7) …with clouds, and every eye will see Him,

even they who pierced Him.
