Cinch Connectivity Solutions (CCS) has been a part of the Waseca community since its original inception as the E.F. Johnson business founded in 1923, and we are proud of the valued partnership we have shared with the Waseca Chamber of Commerce over the years. In recent years we opened our doors to host the October 2014 Chamber Business After Hours event allowing community businesses and individuals to visit. CCS also participated in The Leadership Greater Waseca program which offered our associates leadership development opportunities. In August 2015 Jesse Sherman, the CCS Plant Manager, received the Progress Award, and in October 2015 Cinch received the Waseca Chamber Business of the Year award. At this time, we had the opportunity to recognize many valued associates who have lived and raised families in the Waseca community. In November 2015 Waseca High School seniors toured the plant through the Discover Waseca Careers program. We appreciate the many opportunities our membership with the Waseca Chamber has offered! Boss of the Year is a respected supervisor, leader, and mentor that supervises a significant number of employees. This individual is also involved and contributes to the well-being of the community.
The recipient of the Community Development Award focuses on volunteers as opposed to staff, encourages the promotion and advancement of community development and demonstrates through time, commitment, attitude shown and results demonstrated that there is a long-term benefit to the Waseca community.
The Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds Award is designed to recognize men and women whose sacrifice for public good is motivated by an innate desire to help others; to honor those individuals whose good deeds might otherwise go without notice, and to recognize the exemplary efforts of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and School and Community volunteers for the effort they invest for further inspiration and development of children and students.
Each year Rotary recognizes the Service Above Self Award. It represents an outstanding volunteer who has provided exceptional service to the Waseca community in one or two focus areas for several years. The Rotary recipient must demonstrate a commitment to service, organization, or cause for many years and have made a lasting contribution to the community in the form of volunteering.
Waseca County Distinguished Agricultural Leadership Award is a prestigious award given to recognize and honor individuals both currently and posthumously who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of agricultural industry in the Waseca County area through demonstration of leadership in the community, and/or their place of business.
The recipient of the Distinguished Service Award is an individual between 18-40 years old and a resident of Waseca. This individual has “given themselves” through civic involvement and community development.
The Don Eustice Community Service Award is awarded to a recipient who is involved in a variety of organizations and projects as well as those who have truly made a difference in the community. Tradition has it the recipient is a secret and will be announced at the end of the event.
These awards will be honored at the January 30th Community Awards event.

CHAMBER BUSINESS IS GOOD BUSINESS!
PROGRESS IS EVERYONE'S
BUSINESS!
I have now been involved with the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce for seven years, and it has meant a lot to me. It has been a place that has assisted me in meeting new friends, finding new clients and it also helps in providing an education on our community itself. Through my involvement with chamber events, I have been able to locate forums that allow me to get out in our community and it helps me build a foundation I use every day in my professional life while also operating within our community. As I look forward to 2016, I want to encourage you to become more involved in the chamber and use it as a forum to build your own personal and business relationships through the channels the chamber provides. If you are looking for ways to get involved, please contact the chamber office.

1. Workforce Housing: The GMNP supports $30M each year for a Workforce Housing tax credit proposal, similar to the workforce housing tax credit currently awaiting action in the Omnibus Tax Bill.2. Greater MN Business Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program (“BDPI”): The GMNP supports a $15M appropriation in the 2016 legislative session. In addition, the GMNP supports changes to require the state to pay at least 50% of project costs up to $2 million.3. Broadband Expansion: The GMNP supports the expansion of high-speed broadband internet in Greater Minnesota. The GMNP supports $50 million per year to be appropriated to the Border to Border Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program. The GMNP supports program changes to better target funds to Greater Minnesota with the greatest economic benefit.4. Statewide Business Property Taxes: The state should offer qualifying businesses under the Greater Minnesota Business expansion program up to seven years of exemption from the statewide business property tax. The state should also begin phasing out the state business property tax by exempting the first $150,000 of commercial/industrial value in Greater Minnesota from the statewide business property tax, without shifting the cost to other property.
5. Transportation: The GMNP supports $7 billion in road funding over 10 years with $200 million for Corridors of Commerce and $40 million for city streets. The GMNP supports a comprehensive approach to transportation, including general fund dollars and new dedicated state revenues.6. Water Quality Regulation: The GMNP supports requiring independent scientific peer review and cost-benefit analysis of new expensive water quality rules before they are implemented.7. Bonding and Infrastructure in Greater Minnesota: Bonding bills should focus more on transportation, infrastructure, wastewater, and other infrastructure that grows local economies in Greater Minnesota. In addition, of projects identified as being located in the metro area or Greater Minnesota, at least 50% of all capital investment funding should be directed at Greater Minnesota.8. Greater Minnesota New Employees Job Training Program: The GMNP supports increased and permanent funding for the employer-driven job training legislation enacted in 2015 (see Minn. Stat. § 116L.42 (2015)).9. Local Government Aid (“LGA”): The GMNP supports restoring the LGA program to its 2002 funding level and annual increases in its appropriation thereafter. LGA helps Greater Minnesota businesses receive needed city services while restraining local property taxes.
To help improve the economic climate & boost economic growth in Greater MN, the GMNP supports the following economic development positions in the 2016 legislative session:
The Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports these policies for rural MN.
