Maths

Session 1: Fluency (10 – 15 minutes). 2 times table

Warm up your brain by counting in 2’s from 0 to 30, can you go backwards too? You

could also play this game: https://www.timestables.co.uk/spuq-times-tables.html

Select 2x

Once you have warmed your brain up, do fluency activity 1 for 5 to 6 minutes – do as

much as you can in the time, don’t worry if you don’t finish. After 5 – 6 minutes, mark your

work with an adult.

Now do your first lesson: Odd and Even Numbers (page 59)

https://vimeo.com/498261586

Session 2

Fluency (10 – 15 minutes). 5x table

Warm up your brain by counting in your multiples of 5 from 0 to 50. Challenge: Can you do

it backwards? You can also do your 5x table on the Mental Maths train

here: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/mental-maths-train

or use the game from yesterday.

Once your brain has warmed up please spend 5-6 minutes doing

fluency activity 2. These are Times Table wheels; a little bit is done for

you. Mark your work with an adult just like at school.

Now do your second lesson: Divide by 5 (page 63)

https://vimeo.com/498262138

Session 3

Fluency (10-15 minutes) Subtraction. Warm up that subtraction brain by counting

backwards. Practice crossing a multiple of 10 a few times – remember that your tens

number will decrease but your ones number will get bigger! You can practise

subtracting 2 small numbers using the Mental Maths train on Topmarks.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/mental-maths-train

Once you have warmed your brain up, do fluency activity 3 for 5 to 6 minutes –

do as much as you can in the time, don’t worry if you don’t finish. After 5 – 6

minutes, mark your work with an adult. If you want more practise of subtraction later on,

there is an extra sheet on the website.

Now do your 3rd lesson: Divide by 10 (page 67)

https://vimeo.com/498262386

Session 4

Fluency –Multiplication and Division Fact Families. Multiplication and Division facts have a

family, just like addition and subtraction do. Have a go with the Fact Family

game on Topmarks https://www.topmarks.co.uk/number-facts/number-fact-

families Here is one I have done:

Hopefully your brain is now fizzing? Spend 5-6 (or as long as you want) minutes doing your

fluency activity 4. Use the numbers in the roof of the house to create the 4 members of the

fact family.

Yesterday’s lesson was the final one on the Multiplication and Division block. At school we

would now do an assessment to see how the children have understood.

Have a go at this (separate document), you can read it out to the children if they need it but

try and not help too much if you can resist! At school we would just say to have a sensible

guess or just move onto the next one – there’s no point getting in a tizzy about it. If you

would like to send a photo or scan of it to your teacher, that would be lovely (but not

essential, it’s for our interest rather than our assessment). Answer sheet for marking on

website too.

Challenge and Extend:

Investigate:

How will you prove this? Can you show it in more than one way? How many times do you

need to show something before you can say it is always true or false? Can you write a rule?

How would you explain your rule to someone who did not understand?

English

This week’s English lessons are again online from The Oak National Academy. The lessons

are about 25 minutes long, online and are accessible at any time through any device that

has the internet. There are times that the lesson will need to be paused so the children can

complete the activity. Please could you just point out the pause button to them. Other than

that, the children should be able to work quite independently. If you have time maybe your

child could explain to you what they learnt in the lesson.

The best way to watch the videos is through Chrome or Safari. Just

copy and paste the links into the search box if the hyperlink doesn’t

work.

Session 1 – This can be done with session 2 on the same day.

Geography

Brazil – Although we are not going to study this whole unit and don’t usually study Brazil,

this lesson ties in nicely with our science this half term and this week’s science lesson on the

Rainforest.

Please submit this work to your teachers on Friday. The children are writing

physical and human features of Brazil and their local area. This is something that

we studied last term so the children will be familiar with the vocabulary. They

can present their work anyway they wish, including a PowerPoint, video, poster,

fact file or just written in their exercise books with illustrations.

DT

This week we are making moving pictures using a pivot.

This week, challenge yourself to use BOTH moving mechanisms in one picture. Your picture

needs both a slider and a lever and pivot (you might need to re-use your split pin). Think

carefully about the kind of picture you could do. Try and make it different to either of the

ones you have done before. At school we would have done a Rainforest picture to tie in with

our Geography and Science.

Although this does not require submission, if you would like us to see it –

send a photo or bring it to a Zoom.

PE

Choose a video with your favourite superhero. There are lots to choose from. You may want

to try and do one each day if you are stuck indoors with the bad weather.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCokO71NW3TgndaSNyHIqwtQ

You could choose The Black Panther Workout or a Frozen one. I will be doing a Han Solo

one!

Listen to the song Little Bo Peep then answer these questions in your exercise

book.

Do you think Little Bo Peep is a good leader?

Why? Why not?

Why did she lose her sheep?

What could she do so she doesn’t lose them again?
