Compound Light Microscope: uses series of light and lenses to magnify

objects

Electron Microscope: Uses a magnetic field to bend the beam of an electron

Prokaryote Cells

• Unicellular organisms that lack membrane-bound organelles– Example: Bacteria & Archaea

Eukaryote Cells

• Contain a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles– Examples: Animals, Plants, Fungi

Organelles – membrane bound structures with in eukaryotic cells, each organelle has a specific function for cell survival

Similarities vs. Differences

• Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus, which contains the genetic material.
