Between 30 - 60 minute walks
Between 2-3 miles - up to 90 minute walks
Free Walks Programme Apr - Jun 2019
The Walks are led by qualified volunteer walk leaders, who have
undergone the National Walking for Health training.
The walks are a mixture of town and country routes and are aimed at
those who are doing little exercise at the moment, but who would
like to become more active.
Walks over 3 miles are known as progressive walks and are
not considered Walking for Health.
Walking for over 55s
Up to 30 minute walks
Stroll ’n’ Chat Level 1, 2 and 3 walking group’s spring programme in association with
St Monica Trust and Walking for Health Bristol Partnership. If you are looking to join
a fun, friendly group of social walks, one of our groups is for you.
All of our walks are:
Free to attend, unless stated otherwise.
Led by fully trained Walk Leaders.
Level 1 is set at a slow pace and covers up to 30 minutes on level ground.
Level 2 is set at a slow pace and covers up to 60 minutes.
Level 3 is set at a moderate pace and covers up to 90 minutes.
The walking groups are aimed at people aged 55+ and mainly the walks are suitable
for anyone able to walk for an hour without stopping. For those who are unable to do
this, there is a level 1 walk which is no longer than 30 minutes.
The aim of level 3 walks is to walk at a reasonable pace and cover between 2 to 3
miles. The walks are varied with some local and others further afield. The level and
conditions of the walks are indicated as well as possible via the key overleaf. We like
to stop for refreshments at a café mostly after walks when possible. Please bring
money for refreshments and travel costs.
The walk leaders will try to set and maintain a pace which they feel is appropriate for
the group and route. IF YOU FIND IT IS TOO FAST please SLOW DOWN to a level
that is comfortable for you. As a rough guide you should be able to walk and talk, but
feel a bit warm with slightly elevated breathing.
Please DO NOT walk in front of the Walk Leader
Hello and Welcome
