WAIVERS: York Center Park District does not accept liability for participants injured in a Park District program. Participants must furnish their own medical and accident insurance. All participants must sign the multiple waiver and release form which is located on the reverse side of the registration form. See waiver on pages 11-12.

INSURANCE: The York Center Park District does not provide medical insurance coverage for those participating in recreation programs or while using park facilities. Such insurance would make programs and user fees prohibitive.

CODE OF CONDUCT/BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS: YCPD participants are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times. The following is a list of the Park District’s behavior codes, which have been developed to help make the programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules or guidelines may be developed for specific programs if deemed necessary by YCPD staff. 1. Show respect to fellow participants and staff. 2. Abstain from using abusive or foul language. 3. Abstain from causing or threatening bodily harm to self, fellow participants or staff. 4. Show respect to equipment and facilities.Additional or individual behavior management plans may be developed based on the advice of parents, guardians, YCPD staff, or other professionals. A caring, fair and positive approach will be utilized regarding the use of any disciplinary methods. Each situation will be evaluated individually and on its own merit. YCPD reserves the right to dismiss a participant at any time.

AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT (ADA): People with disabilities, please note: The York Center Park District will not discriminate against eligible residents for participation on the basis of a disabling condition. “We invite any participant with a special need to contact our staff upon registration so that a smooth inclusion may occur.” In addition to the programs listed here, our district provides additional specialized services for people with disabilities through Gateway, see below for more information.

Park Watch: We need your help in keeping the parks clean, safe and free of vandalism. If you find any broken equipment, or have any oth-er safety concerns about the facilities, please contact the Park District. If you see vandalism occurring in the parks, please contact the sheriff’s department by calling 911. The park district is committed to providing a safe place for recreational activities and would prefer to enhance the quality of the parks rather than replace vandalized equipment. Thank you for your support in our efforts to provide the residents of the park district with quality sites and facilities.

Geese Enthusiasts: Feeding ducks and geese has been a favor-ite pastime for many people. Unfortunately, Mother Nature never intended waterfowl to be given food that is provided by humans. Ducks and geese naturally feed upon aquatic plants, grains, insects and sometimes fish. Problems arise when the birds are fed unnatural foods. If you are truly concerned for the welfare of these wild crea-tures, please do not feed the ducks and geese.

Photographs: The York Center Park District may take photographs of people enjoying programs, special events, parks and facilities. These photographs are used for our publications, recreation guides or cable programs. They are the sole property of the Park District and will be used at its discretion. So, the next time you see a camera, make sure you SMILE.

Tree Memorial/Sponsorship Program: This is an opportunity to remember life’s special moments or commemorate loved ones with a live tree. It is a unique way to symbolize a birth, wedding day, gradu-ation, retirement or death. Businesses, groups, churches and families may contribute to our community’s beautification with donations to the Tree Memorial/Sponsorship Program. You may choose from several varieties of trees. Your tree will be identified with a plaque ad-jacent to it. Donors will be presented with a certificate. To obtain an application stop by the office. Trees range in price from $250-$500. Applications are available at the Administration’s office front desk.

Prairie Path: York Center Park District is proud to have a natural native Prairie Path in Knolls Park, which is located just two blocks west of Meyers Road, next to the Montini High School ball fields on 16th Street. Less than 1% of the natural, native prairies remain in Illinois. A special thank you goes to Irene Mostek for all of her hard work and dedication to the Prairie Path.

Pet Owners: When visiting local parks with your pet, please remem-ber that agency ordinances require dogs to be leashed at all times. Dogs are not allowed at any time on athletic fields, playground areas and jogging or bike paths. The person in control of the pet is responsi-ble for cleaning up waste.

Important Phone Numbers
