Waiariki Institute of Technology is one of the fastest growing and fastest improving tertiary institutes in New Zealand, according to the government’s latest Education Performance Indicators report released in July 2013.

High quality qualifications range from certificates, diplomas and degrees to graduate and postgraduate qualifications. Our new Master of Management can be undertaken with an optional endorsement in Business, Hospitality, Information Technology, or Health in order to tailor your studies.

The main goal of the institute is to create work-ready graduates who have the tools to become successful in their chosen field, are satisfied yet challenged in their careers, and able to contribute to their local economy. The government report shows this goal is being met as more of our students are completing their studies, achieving qualifications, and progressing further either in their studies or careers.

Each year our friendly, knowledgeable staff teach approximately 8,000 future nurses, teachers, IT or communications experts, artists, business owners, tradespeople, chefs, tourism or hospitality operators, fashion designers, farm managers, forestry or wood manufacturing specialists, to name just a few areas of the possibilities here at Waiariki.

Our main campus is located in beautiful Rotorua, the country’s tourism capital. Additional campuses are located in Taupo, Tokoroa, Tauranga and Whakatane. The institute is distinctly bicultural, honouring the country’s Māori heritage.

We look forward to meeting you and playing a part in developing your career pathway.

graduate profileLUUKA JONESDIPLOMA IN COMMuNICATIONs (APPLIED)“studying the Diploma in Communications (Applied) at Waiariki Institute of Technology has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to confidently work in a range of media avenues. Practical application, a fun work environment and experienced tutors took the chore away from studying and turned it into an interesting and practical way of learning about the field of communications. The tutors all bring a first-hand knowledge and hugely relevant examples from their years of work in the media and I found them incredibly insightful. This is a qualification I would recommend to anybody and I cannot wait to test my new skills and kick start my career in this growing profession.”

Lisa AinsleyBACHeLor oF CoMpuTiNg, CoMMuNiCATioNs ANd TeCHNoLogy (MuLTiMediA/WeB)“A few years ago I decided to start the Certificate in Computing and Communications Technology (Level 3) online while I had a few months off work with my youngest daughter. At the time I never thought I would continue studying, but have now completed the Bachelor of Computing, Communications and Technology here at Waiariki Institute of Technology. “One of the main reasons I felt confident to continue on to the degree is that the tutors helped me to develop my skills and believed in my abilities, encouraging me to go further. “I also liked the hands-on approach to studying in the computing environment which made studying more interesting and gave me a better understanding of what works and doesn’t work in the real world of computing. “With the option to choose a major within the degree I have had the flexibility in what courses I chose to study, and from a student’s point of view flexibility is important.“I am happy I made the decision to continue studying with Waiariki.”
