PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
P &C AGM
Last night the Annual General Meeting for our P&C was held and our 2020 office
bearers were elected. Congratulations to Andrew, Natalie, Krystal, Kristen Lee,
Andrew, Marnie, Sharee and Rainer who have taken on important roles in our
school.
to all our outgoing executive members, for your dedicated contribution to our
school and the extra hours and hard work you put into making our school such a
great place to be.
There are still some vacant positions on the canteen committee for any parents
who wish to be involved. Please let Andrew or Nat know if you are interested.
Our P&C is a small, but dedicated, group of parents who do so much for our
school. They organise fundraising and events, collaborate with staff, support the
school and are a voice for our parent body. Throughout the year there are so
many ways—big and small—to be involved.
Make 2020 your year to get involved.
KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION
This Friday starts our four weeks of transition for our 2020 Kindergarten students.
We have 63 fresh faces and personalities joining us next year and we can’t wait to
welcome them.
STAGE 2 EXCURSION
Our Year 3 and 4 students and teachers are eagerly preparing for their overnight
excursion to Borambola on Monday and Tuesday next week. I am sure they will
have a great time and I look forward to hearing their stories on their return.
Thank you to the staff who have planned this excursion and are giving up their
own time to provide this opportunity.
Have a great week.

PREMIER’S DEBATING CHALLENGE
WWPS’s
Sustainable
Garden
Project Aim: to investigate sustaina-
ble food production.
Method: investigate social,
economic and environmental
sustainability of aquaponics,
hydroponics and traditional
soil gardening.
Findings:
Aquaponics = socially and
economically unsustaina-
ble. The cost to set it up
was too high and the fish
required too much effort
to keep them alive
(social).
Hydroponics = less cost and
effort to maintain water
quality. Self-waters. No
weeds. Leafy foods grew
well including summer
crops in winter crops.
Root vegies not as good.
Less space required
(layering).
Traditional garden = low
cost, soil only. Winter ve-
gies grew well in winter
only. Needs to be watered
every day (Inc. holidays).
Planted vegies too close
together. Root vegies
grew better in soil.
Conclusion: both hydroponics and traditional soil gardens have their benefits. We will continue to grow leafy foods in hydroponics and root foods in Crow Patch with appropri-ate spacing.
Thank You Silvy! We harvested crops at the end of term 3. Some lucky students in 4/5K were invited to
assist Silvy in cooking nutritious savoury muffins and a roast vegetable salad with our
produce. All students sampled the tasty treats.
FRESH IS 100% BEST!
