Clarkston State Bank Strengthens Staff
with Addition of New Commercial Lender
and Treasury Management Officer
To better serve and support Southeast Michigan businesses,
organizations and residents, Clarkston State Bank (CSB)
announced the hiring of Jay Russ, as a Vice President, to the
position of Commercial Lender, as well as the promotion of Nikki
Tippett, to Treasury Management Officer.
Nikki Tippett
Treasury Management Officer
Ms. Tippett has consistently provided
exceptional service to the bank’s customers and
has built a breadth of experience across several
functional areas, making her a valuable asset as
Treasury Management Officer. She started with the bank in 2011
as a Customer Service Representative at one of their Clarkston
branches. It quickly became clear that Ms. Tippett was very bright
and motivated to learn as much as she could, and customers loved
her genuine personality and willingness to go above and beyond
to ensure their satisfaction. By May of 2012, she was promoted to
Assistant Branch Manager at the branch where she provided strong
leadership for the CSR team.
When the bank determined it was time to provide more focus on
its treasury management services in March 2013, Ms. Tippett was
promoted to the newly-created Treasury Management Specialist
position. Since that time, she has dedicated herself to becoming
an expert on treasury services providing set up and support for
customers with remote depositing and cash management
products. In 2015, she became an Accredited ACH Professional
(AAP) to solidify her expertise in the field, while also continuing to
provide assistance in the branches and the operations department.
Not only is Ms. Tippett dedicated to the customers at Clarkston
State Bank, she also contributes her time to the Waterford
community as the co-chair for the Waterford Chamber Young
Professionals Network, as a steering committee member of
Waterford Blessings in a Backpack, and as a board member of the
Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce and the Oakland County
Sheriff’s Office Benefit for the Disabled.
As the only business bank headquartered in Southeast Michigan,
CSB is committed to assembling an outstanding team of experts
to support the region’s financial strength and needs.
Jay Russ
Commercial Lender
Mr. Russ’s expertise in business development
and small business lending, along with over 15
years of management experience across
multiple disciplines, will be a distinct asset as a
Commercial Lender with Clarkston State Bank.
He will be responsible for servicing and growing
Clarkston’s diverse portfolio of business clients, leveraging his
experience with the SBA to help deliver effective financing solutions.
Mr. Russ brings over 10 years of banking experience, including:
Business Banking Specialist at Huntington National Bank; Branch
Manager at Huntington National Bank; and Branch Manager at
PNC Bank/ National City Bank.
Mr. Russ enjoys giving back to the communities and currently
serves as a Planning Committee member for the Rochester
Regional Chamber of Commerce Hometown Christmas Parade
Board. He is a proud alumnus of Oakland University where he
earned his B.A. and he currently resides in Orion Township.

Employers continue to invest in the health and well-being of their
employees despite constant change and uncertainty in the health
care landscape. The business community is also taking a closer
look at the quality of care employees receive in addition to trying
to control rising costs. However, employer health programs should
extend beyond just providing health insurance.
To achieve a productive, high-performing workforce, employers
must also effectively create a culture of health within their company.
Wellness and prevention programs have been shown to improve
workplace performance, control costs, and create a more
engaged workforce. At the Employer Health Care Forum: Creating
a Culture of Health, employers will learn why having a strong health
program is important to the success of the organization and
explore best practices on engaging employees in their health.

to Fight Breast Cancer
The McLaren Oakland Foundation will host its 10th Annual Sister &
Sister event, May 3, at the Pine Knob Mansion’s Carriage House in
Clarkston. Guests will enjoy a strolling buffet, cocktails, silent auction
and casino fun gambling during this year’s event to raise funds and
awareness for breast cancer and showcase survivors’ stories.

diagnosed with breast cancer were not coming back for diagnostic
testing, nor were they following up with cancer treatments – all
because they could not afford the co-pays and deductibles,” says
Erika Walker, McLaren Oakland Foundation Executive Director.
“Because of grants secured and the wonderful support of our
sponsors and the community, we are able to help women in our local
community with this kind of financial assistance.”
Sponsors include:Kellam and Associates, PC, MSU College of Osteopathic
Medicine, Oncologic Specialists, PC, Baker College, Genisys
Credit Union, and Star EMS. To provide support and/or sponsor
the event, contact: Tatiana Grant at [email protected] 248-338-5345.

“A good man saw an opportunity in a lonely building thathasn’t seen daylight in over 20 years. The man wanted tobring it back to life and enjoy its nostalgia with close friendsby opening its doors and letting music and laughter flowoutside its walls. This good man believes that the best part ofbeing human... is appreciating art! This theater is his presentto the people who love music as well as comedy.”

proceeds benefiting the Amber Webb Memorial Scholarship
Fund. Drop your child off for the day to run errands yourself or
come with your child and enjoy a snapshot of how Skull Island
operates camp each day. They start the day around the pirate
ship with morning rules and round up, play until 1, enjoy a lunch
buffet, treasure hunt with
prizes for the children.
Everyone can swim on their
giant floating water park,
enjoy kayaking, paddle

About the Amber Webb Memorial Scholarship
For those of you that don't
know Amber, she was a
beautiful spunky, feisty, smart
as a whip, 16 year old who
passed away from Ewing's
Sarcoma Cancer on December
6, 2014. Amber's father has
been one of Skull Island
owner’s, Mike Chapman, best friend from childhood. “Amber
was a part of our family growing up, pictured in between my
daughter's Miranda and Madison,” says Katherine Chipman.
Her father and Shannon set up a scholarship fund at Trenton
High School (where Amber would of graduated) in Amber's
memory. Education was one of Amber’s top priorities. All the
donations for this event will go to a few select graduating seniors
who have overcome difficulties in their lives and graduating from
high school.

Welcome to May!
I always enjoy the month of May. Happy
Mother's Day to all of the mothers! May your
day be filled with love, joy and happiness. I
would like to share a quote from Abraham
Lincoln, "All that I am or hope to be, I owe to
my mother." In today's hurried world, we
sometimes forget to thank all of the important people in our lives
including our mothers.
Please remember to check out the membership directory on the
Chamber website when looking for your Mother's Day gifts. We have
some great events coming up! Don't forget to attend the upcoming
Perking Ups, After Hours and new business ribbon cuttings.
If you are able to attend I highly recommend the Waterford
Business Recognition breakfast on May 18. It is a time to
recognize and celebrate our fellow business owners for their
tremendous success.
Thank you for all that you do!
