After the enormous success of our first Wireless Spider and the feedback from our many satisfied customers, we went back to the drawing board for a completely new version. The result: The WispiRAE 2!
Traditional SpidersHave you ever worked with a traditional spider? They are indispensable for many projects. But they are also heavy and unmanageable, take days to install by quali ed personnel, and require enormous cable reels. There’s no back-up power or it is an expensive option, so when someone unwittingly breaks a cable by driving over it, the system is inoperative and the project is on hold. Redundancy cables solve this problem with even more cables. As if that wasn’t enough, the cables are very expensive, your personnel could trip over it or topple over equipment or even breaking it. To install a system like this requires a truck and a fork lifter to install or move. Sounds familiar? Not anymore! Rapid deploymentThe WispiRAE 2 is delivered turn-key. And when we say turn-key, we mean exactly that. All systems are precon gured and programmed for your application. All equipment ts in a small van. Everything is installed simply by placing the sensors and turning them on, putting the WispiRAE 2 in its place, connecting switchable equipment, turn the power on, job done! Installation is complete within a few hours, quite literally within the time it takes to walk around every measuring location. Without trucks on your premises, virtually without cables, without fork lifts, without a huge crew. And safe in all respects: intrinsically safe to Zone 0, resistant to all weather, easy and fool-proof to operate and with no cables. The data network is initiated automatically, the sensor heads use each other to send data to the WispiRAE 2 and other central units. In the unlikely event of sensor failure, the system automatically alarms the central unit, but data and alarms of other sensor heads are not compromised because the network is re-initiated automatically. You don’t miss a beat and we will be there to repair or replace the faulty head.

As rugged as it getsFailing alarm equipment means a project on hold: unacceptable, whether caused by system or human faults. That’s why the WispiRAE 2 system is as rugged as it can be. It consists of a mobile framework to which an explosion-proof housing, MeshGuard sensor heads, a siren and beacon are attached. The housing contains an FMC 2000 multichannel controller and a battery. The controller reads out measuring data of all connected MeshGuards and sends data and alarms through its built-in modem. Its Zone 0 certi cation means that the MeshGuards can even be used in con ned spaces. The WispiRAE 2 can be used in Zone 1-environments.The requirements of ultimate ruggedness of a housing like the WispiRAE’s are enormous, hence why the lid is screwed in place with 20 heavy-duty bolts. To prevent having to unscrew all these bolts when making changes to the con guration or setup, the WispiRAE 2 is tted with programming buttons on the outside.
Groups of personnel protected in one sweepThe WispiRAE is supremely suited to protect crews in dangerous areas and warn them against poisonous gases and imminent danger of explosion. To cover a broader area, multiple MeshGuards can be placed in key locations, making use of the same network. The WispiRAE 2 monitors any measurements and alarms correspondingly.Through this enormous versatility and exibility, but also its ruggedness, the WispiRAE 2 will prove itself ideal to assist you and your personnel with plant turnarounds and o shore working environments. But also when work is planned to a xed gas detection system, the WispiRAE 2 system is a comprehensive substitute for the protection of your crew. The MeshGuard gas detection monitor is the building block of an intelligent network of interconnected sensor heads for applications of industrial safety. The MeshGuard system is developed to deploy instead of traditional xed gas detection

monitors. The MeshGuard o ers a cheaper solution that is deployed instantaneously. The MeshGuards are available with a host of eld-replaceable precision sensors for poisonous and/or combustible gases. Of course, it’s ATEX certi ed.
The FMC 2000 is at the heart of the WispiRAE 2; a multichannel controller with built-in modem, developed to integrate RAE System’s wireless networking products like the MeshGuard. It is easy to use, versatile and supremely reliable. The FMC 2000 manages the measurement data of all connected MeshGuards and alarms when necessary. It can control 24 detectors simultaneously. This turns the WispiRAE into the heart of a simple to use and install but versatile and safe network of gas surveillance. Furthermore, the FMC 2000 is equipped with data logging, so information about alarm situations can be analyzed and stored to ease reporting. The FMC 2000 is equipped with a backup battery, so even when power is interrupted or switched of, none of the incoming data is lost. It can only be used in ATEX-zones by building it into the WispiRAE 2.The housing has an IP65 rating so it can be used in the toughest of circumstances. This build quality ensures optimal protection of the sensitive equipment inside, even when it is not ATEX-certi ed.Also, you bene t from the latest in communication technology. We built in UMTS- and SMS-connectivity so supervisors can be alarmed automatically in case of emergencies and critical data is always available.
Custom built for your projectMake an appointment with RAE Benelux to see for yourself how your project can be carried out cheaper, safer, faster and surer. The WispiRAE 2 and all related equipment is for rent at RAE Benelux.
