A TASTE OF THE STATES

Join us at our 6th annual Taste & Travel party of 2011 as we stay stateside once again and bring you

the finest food the States have to offer. Enjoy the evening out Saturday, March 12 as Chef Danny presents an all-you-can-eat feast you simply can’t miss. This year our annual event will have us traveling to and enjoying the tastes of Shiner, TX; Napa, CA; Seattle, WA; and Chinatown, NY.

A note from the manager

As we enter March the golf season is fast approaching and golf fever is starting to build around the Club. Another six weeks and hopefully we will be on the

links! When golf fever starts to build that also means it is time to remind current members that we only have a few spots left in our 2011 winter golf membership promotion. It’s no secret our ability to generate and find new golf members in 2011 is more important than ever. I’d like to really ask for your help to make sure your friends, who are potential members, know about our great Club. Members who refer friends and business associates are far and away our most important means of advertising. Remember, our current golf special benefits both you and your prospective member equally in 2011. For more details call Becky or myself and we will be happy to walk you though the details.

March also means the Club is already through the first four months of our 2011 fiscal year, which began November 1. So far, things look to be proceeding as planned. Our membership numbers are about where expected and our food and beverage numbers are trending ahead of last year’s record pace through mid-February. We are also currently ahead of last year’s pace with regards to weddings

booked for 2011 and our Monday golf outing bookings are also in line with budgeted expectations. This is a good sign for the Club that most Saturdays during the season will be filled with activity. Additionally, as part of our 2011 capital plan we have completed work on the pump house behind the tennis courts. With that project completed and the chairs in the dining room completely refinished we now turn our attention to the furniture in the bar.

Did you join us for Valentines Day? If not you missed a great show as members danced to the sounds of Rosetti & Wigley. They are a great act and we hope to continue to have them back in the future. Speaking of dancing, we already have more than 200 members signed up for our 6th Annual Taste & Travel Party on March 12. This event will sell out and we will limit the numbers this year due to space and seating limitations. Don’t miss out on this evening of fun, including great food from around the country and free limo service! We promise to make it a great night of fun and entertainment. What a great way to introduce your friends to the Club! We will continue the social events schedule into April with a murder mystery dinner, cooking classes, and a slew of other events for you to take advantage of this spring.

We are looking forward to a great spring and hopefully an early start to the golf season. As always, if you have any questions about your Club please do not hesitate to call.

We encourage everyone to stop by the Club during the week to have lunch. Chef Danny will have daily specials and soups available throughout the winter months. Membership does have its benefits! Wausau Country Club and Troon Golf are extremely pleased to announce

even more benefits to our golf members with the roll out of the Troon Privé Privilege. This new program provides for our members a formal reciprocal relationship amongst a select collec-tion of Troon managed private clubs. There are currently more than 30 Troon Golf private Clubs, including Wausau Country Club, that are partici-pating in the program. The Troon Privé Privilege perks are in addition to the current Troon Ad-vantage member benefits that you are enjoying. As a reminder, Troon Advantage allows our golf members the opportunity to secure discounted rates at Troon Golf daily fee and resort proper-ties worldwide. These two distinct programs are designed to enhance your golf experience beyond Wausau Country Club, and to offer you, our distinguished members, greater added value free of charge.

The Troon Privé Privilege benefits include: Wausau Country Club golf members now have the privilege to play at other participating Troon Golf private clubs for the host Clubs cart fee rate.

Each member can play up to six rounds at any given facility in one calendar year.

Members are entitled to bring up to three guests that will play for the host Clubs accompanied guest rate. Rounds are subject to the host Clubs advance booking policy for guest/ reciprocal play.

Access to www.troonprive.com where you can research the facilities participating in the program and request your round. Upon completion of the online form an e-mail request will be sent to both the requested Club General Manager and myself. We will take care of the reservation from there.

We hope you enjoy this added value to your membership, and are able to take advantage of the vast array of domestic and international golf access that both programs provide. If you have further questions on either the Troon Privé Privi-lege program or the Troon Advantage program please do not hesitate to give Michael a call at the Club.

This month marks the beginning of spring, and very soon we’ll be out on the course. I am excited about this golf season and getting a

chance to get out on the course myself (you may even see me improving my golf game with lessons)! The new video lessons option Doug is offering looks really interesting. I know that type of immediate feedback would reinforce what I’m doing right (or wrong)! Look for more details about these lessons on page 3.

This year’s Taste and Travel is shaping up to be a great night. As of press time, we only have a couple of limo spots left and less than 50 “tickets” left before we sell out! Give us a call soon if you would like to attend.

Our April member event details are coming together as well. This

year we will be hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater here at the Club on Saturday, April 16. The Wausau Community Theater will be presenting, with members figuring out “who-dun-it!” Look for more details in your March statement inserts.

I am also starting to plan our summer activities. Juniors will have lots to do this summer after their golf league! We’re going to keep things closer to home this year with things like croquette tournaments, cooking lessons, chalk fest, and more. Keep an eye out for upcoming Junior league sign up info.

Thank you to those of you who continue to support the member events at our Club! Valentine’s Dinner was a great night, and we look forward to providing you with more events like this in the future.

Have a great month and see you at the Club!

Hello and greetings from the kitchen. Is it me or is the golf season approaching quickly? Taste & Travel is just around the corner and our menu is even tastier than last

year, starting with a full blown shellfish market display with lobster claws, peel n eat shrimp, crab legs and even an oyster shucking station. Then join us for a tour of Asia with fresh rolled sushi, miso glazed snapper and fried green beans with sesame vinaigrette. Don’t miss out on our house smoked beef brisket, assorted smoked sausages, and garlic pickles in our Shiner, TX BBQ cook out. We are going overboard with flavor this year, so come celebrate the taste of the states at this year’s Wausau Country Club Taste & Travel!

As we look forward to spring, our next set of menu changes will take place April 1. Once again we will lighten up our Turne and dining menus to offer seasonal flavors that will flow with the warmer weather that seems to be rapidly approaching. Ladies and Gentlemen who are in golf leagues—if you have any ideas on what types of food you would like to see on your league day specials or tailgate buffet, send them my way. I would love to

hear your ideas.

I would like to thank all the members who joined us on Valentine’s Day. The kitchen crew and I worked hard to make your night special. Have a great month everybody and hope to see you soon on the course!

Join us on (most) Thursdays in March in the Turne bar where kids will have access to video games and then feast on homemade pizzas from Chef Danny! This is a great way for families to relax and spend some fun time together. We will also be bringing back our build-your-own pasta station for Thursday nights, and our dining room menu will be available as always! Not in the mood for a ruckus? The dining room will be available for those who prefer conversation over chaos.

Golf season is right around the corner, and with that the start of leagues. Did you know that our Tuesday Ladies League is being restructured this

year? Look at the insert in this newsletter to find out some of the changes and to sign up. Join us Tuesday, April 12 to find out more about what changes are being made, and to get any questions you may have answered. Doug and Sam will be holding a rules and league information seminar from 5pm-6pm. Not in

league? Join us at 6pm for a fashion show complete with cocktails and

hors d’oeuvres. Find out what great products our vendors

will have available for you this year, and reconnect

with friends (and maybe even make

some new ones!) after a long winter. Please call the Club to let us know if you will be able to attend. Hope to see you there!
