AID Buffalo volunteer profiles!!! 2012

In Summer 2012 after surviving the final few hectic days of the spring semester as a Master’s

student, I was tired and worn out to do anything. But I was hearing about AID buffalo chapter for

quite a while from my roommate Prasad Choutupalli, a member himself. I attend my first meeting

as my summer vacation starts to discuss about Pankti’s talk. I couldn’t have asked more to get a

clear picture of AID and its aim by a Saathi, one of the best talks I have listened to. It was during her

talk I anchored my roots to AID. AID for me has come after YOU (Youth for upliftment, works to

improve education in rural India) a NGO founded by my batch mate and friend during my undergrad

years. After two events and several meetings in AID Buffalo and many more to come, I am happy

and excited that I am part of it to make a change to the lives in my motherland.

I came to know of AID Buffalo through some of my friends and found that it was a good

opportunity to participate and contribute in something that helps the home country. It has been a

really good experience being a part of AID Buffalo. It made me aware of different kinds of issues

that people in our country are facing and being able to help in solving these issues gives a good

feeling. I wish and hope to serve this association for a long time and encourage new volunteers to

join in. – Deepika Verma
