Once again, AORN partnered with Habitat for Humanity to make one family’s dream of owning their own home come true. Construction on the home began on Saturday, March 10, and was com- pleted by Wednesday, March 14. Once again, AORN partnered with Habitat for Humanity to make one family’s dream of owning their own home come true. Construction on the home began on Saturday, March 10, and was com- pleted by Wednesday, March 14. of need, willingness to become partners in the pro- gram, and ability to repay the no-interest loan. Home owners must make a down payment on their new home, as well as monthly mortgage payments. They also are required to invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.

A dedication ceremony was held Wednesday evening. Manny San Mguel, chair of the board of directors of the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity (DAHFH), greeted attendees and began the ceremo- ny with a prayer. President Brenda C. Ulmer, RN,

MN, CNOR, thanked DAHFH for working with AORN to make the De Haros’ dream come true. “We are pleased to leave a lasting contribution to your community and to share this important mile- stone with the De Haro family,” said President Ulmer. She ended the ceremony by presenting fami- ly members with a loaf of bread representing the staff of life, a bottle of wine representing the joy of companionship, a bouquet of flowers representing beauty and renewal, and a Bible.
