Many Group events rely on finding an informativeand enjoyable speaker to give a lecture or after-dinner speech. A large number of senior members of the University are more than happy to come andspeak at such events.

We can assist in finding a speaker for your Group throughour quarterly speaker request process. This involvesindividual Groups submitting a request for a speakerwhich is added to requests from other Groups. Oncecompiled, these requests are distributed to a growing listof Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Heads of Houses, Pilkington Prizewinners and Senior Members who have previously showninterest in supporting Group events. Once a speaker haschosen a Group to visit, we will put both parties in contactwith one another.

We must stress that CARO does not offer travel or accommodation expenses for speakers, so beforerequesting a speaker, please ensure that you are eitherprepared to cover these costs (in cash or in kind) or to ask the speaker to make their own arrangements.

As many Groups ask CARO for help in finding a speaker we recommend that you use your own contacts andnetworks first, as a personal approach can often be moreeffective.
